Rats Spawning in Safespot?

So I warped to my GSC is nullsec this morning and to my surprise I found some belt rats at 50km. Almost if the GSC was the center of an asteroid belt. Has anyone else seen this happen? I've been doing this for years and haven't seen anything like it before. As I was typing this, they just warped off. Luckily I took pics if you don't believe me.

In theory I could see it happening.

Rats that warp off sometimes will end up at stations, where they never spawn, and that leads me to believe they warp off to a random-ish grid.

If you've created a grid at a safespot with your can....

that happened to me once too.
I warped to my safe and when I landed there where 3 rats sitting 50km away from me.

Nothing new, rats also occasionally appear at a POS for some reason.

Yep, I've seen this happen before.
Haven't taken pics of it because, well, who really cares that much?

Seen them do this at stations.

Once I tried to attack them with a fast ship. They didn't warp away, but they were fast. Chased them for several minutes and they were bugged - no damage and they got out to several hundred thousand KM.

I'm thinking these occurrences are overview ghosts or simply a bug. Seen it around 20 times since 2006.

Can GSC's be scanned down? If so, im going to head over to V1V-6F and see if i can shootsies me a GSC.

Hmm. Rats warping to random grids and flying around. This could be quite disastrous for an AFK Cloaker. Wonder what the odds are.
