how did this happen

I have to assume I did someone else . . . . . .

. . . . . . I press the undocking button for my frigate in Jita, move my mouse pointer to the right to select to warp to the jumpgate but by the time I have rightclick >>>> Jump, my ship is destroyed and my action manages to warp my capsule to the jumpgate.

how did that happen?

I can understand if I was locked and destroyed after starting the warp to the jumpgate, but somehow I was destroyed (did not even see a lock) before I had done any of the actions (and all this in under 10 seconds, most likely 5).

I'm pretty sure you can't be targeted when leaving the "tube" as long as you don't do anything. Did you stop the ship, turn it, activate a module etc. before pressing warp? Are you a member of a Faction Militia (or a troll)?

Give a man a match and you warm him for a day.

Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life!

no, just a solo pilot.

all (I think) I did was move the mouse pointer to start the warp to the jump gate.

Check your kills / losses and your logs. Presumably it's an alpha strike and possibly lag.

I had this happen to me once on a Sunday (United States) afternoon while leaving the Jita dock. I went to undock and by the time my computer caught up with all the "lag" in that system, the game server already was processing other actions which included other ships bumping me out of invulnerable status and I was ganked before the black screen vanished.

yes, alpha strike for sure. the best I could think of is that the aggressor was aiming for someone else and hit me as I was undocking given I saw no lock warning.

Either you took longer to find the correct gate and jump to it, meaning your undock timer ran out.

Or you inadvertently double clicked while finding and selecting the gate on your overview, which turned your ship and ended your undock timer.

Or someone has a very, very fast locking ship and locked/fired before your ship could get turned to actually enter warp... possibly with a passive targeted to lessen the amount of time he would have shown up as a threat.

yes, that may be it - would that then send my capsule into warp to the jumpgate?

about 4bn isk, and using a lowly frigate - so I am sort of assuming someone was maybe waiting for me, or just got lucky.

. . . . . . . I like me lessons to cost plenty!

Sounds like you bought a defective ship. Next time check the consumer reports!!

this is what happens when you remove scotty, ccp.

things get wierd without scotty.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

Three things that should never, ever go together in any combination:

1) PLEX
2) Frigates
3) Jita

Theres your problem.

The instant you put that in your cargo, gankers will be able to smell that for AUs.

Also, they can fit passive modules and scan boosters to ensure that you wont notice yourself being targeted and scanned quickly. When they see those gold bars, they will gank you quick while you bump around trying to warp out of the Jita traffic...

Best to learn from your lessons and move on.

People have always been able to insta pop you on undock. I don't know if it's an exploit or the whole 'immunity' thing is a scam but when you undock, if you get a collision bump you become a target and can lose your ship before you even get a loaded screen.

Petition it though that should amount to the same old logs show nothing line.

No such thing as being bumped out of invulnerable status.
