Can you do a manual alert check? I.e. a manual API check outside the selected automated time.

This, plus can you get it to detect the presence of a network before checking?

Mobile broadband is expensive in this country, so I don't have mobile data turned on all the time.

It tends to fill up the screen with messages such as "Problems retrieving Skill Queue" (unless it's the fresh API key I got for it - will try later).

Edit: Now that I'm home and on continuous wifi, I get the following results:

  • "There is room available in your skill queue." (so that part works)
  • "Problems retrieving upcoming events" (was not included in API, and Upcoming Calendar Event was set to OFF)
  • "Problems retrieving research info" (was not included in API, and, not sure of the settings, but all the "Researching..." items in 'Wallet Transaction Settings' were set to OFF)
  • "Problems retrieving clone info" (Not sure about this one. API has CharacterInfo selected under 'Private Information', but not CharacterSheet. In the app, 'Clone Out of Date' is ON - can't find any other clone-related settings. Did I do it wrong?)

My expectations (realistic or otherwise - don't know if this is possible) Smile:

  • If not in API, and setting off, no mention of it.
  • If not in API, and setting on, tell the user to update their API key.
  • If in API, and setting off, no mention of it.
  • If in API, and setting on, display message as appropriate.

Also, I notice that if I go into various settings screens, and navigate around the place using the top menu buttons, instead of always going back to the Alerts screen (using the Back button on my Galaxy S3), it builds up quite a long history that I have to back through to exit the application. If there is a "home" screen, and I'd navigated to it, I'd kind-of expect it to quit with one press of the Back button. Don't know how realistic that is.

Sadly, haven't played yet today to generate any other events Sad

Hey ASadOldGit, currently, the only effect that turning off alerts has is you receiving a notification for them. I understand the conception that turning off all related alerts would prevent the app from going out for that data but as it stands currently, it just doesn't work that way. The reason for this is that as Tippia said earlier in the thread, Eve Watch detects changes. However, in order for it to detect changes, it must always have a base set of data in which to compare the next batch of data to. This includes alerts that you have turned off, because what if you turn on said alerts between the last time Eve Watch checked for events and the next time? It would essentially report a ton of false positives in that case unless it still had the base data to work with.

Now, there is another way to handle that situation. I could make it so that if you change your alert settings, it will gather the base data the next time it checks for events, but not report any alerts. Then the following time it checks for events, alerts can be issued. The only problem I see with this is that if someone has their alert frequency set to something relatively high, they could miss any alerts that they might expect during that first interval.

I think I should be able to include an option to only let Eve Watch get API data if you're connected to a wi-fi network. I'll look into that ASAP.

As far as the back button thing goes, I'll just be honest. I couldn't get anyone to give me feedback on the app during testing. No one. So basically I was the only person testing it, and I just missed that. I'd been using the navigation icons and the back button at the top left of the app to get around, and using the home button to leave the app. So back button navigation is another thing I'll need to address.

Thanks for all of your feedback, it's extremely helpful!

Cheers for this HotDogRebel

Looks like a great idea to me but I'm having an issue where my character falls off the app if I move off the app to something else then come back to it and I have to reinstall my API key.

I'm assuming I'm doing something stupid BTW What?

That was a back button? Oops - didn't realise that Ugh

Thanks for the explanation about the API. I'll continue to tinker with it.

Hey Ruskarn, if what you're experiencing is what I think it is, it's just a representational glitch and your character is loaded just fine. There is a brief period of time in certain situations where if you add an api key, leave the screen, and then come back to the API key screen, it will appear that it is not there. It should only be a temporary thing though, so if you give it a few minutes, and then go back to the screen, it should be there. It's hard for me to explain why this is happening, but what it boils down to is that I made a bad design decision early on and it came back to bite me there. It's another thing on my list of things to address for the app. But again, it's a relatively rare thing to happen if it's what I think it is. Let me know if waiting a few minutes (shouldn't take this long, but should absolutely not take longer than 15 minutes) takes care of that problem for you. If it doesn't, then it's something else entirely that I have no knowledge of.

You swiftly prepped a response because you were so outraged yet only gave Tom 1/10 Shocked - it should have been at least 7/10 for catching you so well Twisted

I am still waiting for a fixed stable Reprocessing app for Android/Iphone

I lost my excel sheet back in the day .. and just want to input minerals values and modules in a locally stored database that wont go away when the app creators website goes down

What's it like not even owning your device? The dev menu and SDK on an iPhone costs $200 while Android's comes with the device.

So far it works great, I have an idea though, it would be fantastic if we could turn off specific alerts for each character. For example I have an alt that does a lot of POS stuff so I need her to have alerts, but she isn't training as the main on that account is training, so every few hours I get the ping that her skill queue is empty. I see that it has global settings on this, but not character specific. That would really help weed out unneeded alerts. Otherwise an absolutely fantastic app!

Hi,

this app isn't showing anything for me in weeks. I almost forgot that it's installed because Aura is still alerting me at least about my skillqueue.

No idea what the problem is or what i am maybe doing wrong but all things like skillqueue, market orders and other stuff that should trigger an alert is not popping up at all even with full api tested. If it is an api related problem then it would be great to know what actually is required to activate there, but i doubt it

And before you ask trivial stuff like "is receive alerts ON" yes it is and also all Character alerts.

Android version is 4.1.2
Eve Watch memory usage while running: 19.6MB

any help appreciated

Same thing for me : No notifications at all. Never ever saw one of them. Yet I loaded three different API keys including multiple characters, and I've set up the notifications options for every single possibility.
