People subbing/unsubbing ...

What would people say would be the most common thing that happens with players?
I know many try the 30 days and run screaming, also know we have players that have stayed subbed from day 1.

I can only of course get a response from people that are actually _here_ but I was curious if those people that did unsub at various stages did so because they became bored with gameplay, then returned because of expansions, or simply had RL things that did no mesh up with the amount of time that EVE might of taken up.

I would predict that I would stil stay andl log in and queue skills even if something came up to interrupt actual gameplay, as to me the montly fee is not a problem. At least in this game, skilling up does not require massive grindfest sessions.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

Happens to most ppl in EvE, people do get burnt out or have important RL issue to attend. Not uncommon and can be treated as a normal thing that happens from time to time in EvE.

Even I get burnt out sometimes and take a break from this game. (Just recently came back)

Eve is a game driven by players. When I unsubbed was because I lacked a goal to motivate me. In short, I unsubbed because of my own failings. When I returned it was usually with fresh inspiration to drive me forward. I think this is why most eve players unsub and return. Need time to find a new goal.

Early on I would unsub when I got bored and needed a break or for RL reasons. I would then resub when I got the urge for Eve and had a plan on what path I would take. Now since I have the ISK, I just keep two accounts subbed pretty much for the skill queue and forums, though I really don't have no urge to play and don't.

Most will unsub because they are not used to making their own content or because they dont like failure.

What Garresh says has to be repeated. Eve Online doesn't seem to be a game you simply play. It requires a decent amount of dedication and the player needs to know exactly what he wants to accomplish.

RL financial reasons can be a factor too.

Especially if you play for fun, and have isk/hr as a minor consideration, Plexing stops being a reliable gametime source.

Pretty much what drives me, just i am a stubborn one and hoped that CCP would provide new goals through avatar content, and so kept subbed for almost two years beyond the point at which it was better to take a break.

Now I ooze bitterness, to my regret, and pretty much stay around just to call for EVE's change-or-die and talk to people i meet ingame.

I love finding solutions to issues. But once i find the solution, it kills me to apply it again.... and again... and again... unless i am learning to find another solution to another issue.

And the issues pending to be resolved in EVE, don't call me. Nullsec as a whole is completely unappealing to me, even as a concept. What?

I am exploring now, but that's gonna die soon as it's not rewarding enough and i am increasingly mastering it so it losses the challenge; one can only pinpoint so many stupid omber gravimetrics, faster and faster as he hones his skills, before calling it shithe and go earn some scordite at the belts while chatting with friends. Roll

And you guess what? CCP is gonna kill that as tranquil gaming is not rewarding enough to kids today... Lol

"OMFG! It takes 3 minutes to end a laser cycle! What i'm gonna do for THREE WHOLE MINUTES??"
Sheesh. You may try and discuss wether a rowboat floating on a zero viscosity fluid would be able to move... for an instance. Cool

Nah, you only need 2 years to become a bitter vet.

Or at least, I can remember people declaring EVE's downward death spiral and their intent to leave and take all 30 of their subs with them at least as far back as Red Moon Rising.

The ceiling on my EvE experience is that i only have one account. So i could be in carriers in a couple weeks, but no cyno alt means no.
Sure i know people who could light cynos but it's not good to be needy if you move much out to places that need jump drive to move again.
So even though i love me EvE bros and have played nearly every day for almost four years now, i've done pretty much everything a single account player can. Looking to wind up the account some time this year.

Now if i could log a cyno toon in dual boxing from one account, that would open possibilities up for me, but as it is i've kinda finished the game.

I am on a EVE and really gaming break for the moment but still browse OOPE in my free time and sometimes general keeping my account alive and training with PLEX. I have taken about four breaks usually a month or three.

I left almost permanently after Incarna noticing that no improvement was being made for Gallente or Tiered Ships and no real content. Losing my hanger screen for a door or a Minmatar room that my laptop did not like loading was not something I enjoyed adding to the no new content disappointment and at the rate they were deploying Incarna I figured it would eat the next 2+ expansions with new rooms. I left intending to wash my hands of EVE.

One day I stopped by to see what was up and found CCP's direction shift towards fixes and content and signed up the day before I got my old hanger back, enough time to say bye to door. I have to say they did an amazing job turning it all around, I have not disliked a single expansion since.

....finished the game?

.....

finished the game?

seriously? So you've met and defeated every EVE player, you've built up a mighty Corp/Alliance, and have stolen everything from them while you chortle at your untold (except you tell everyone immediately) riches?

If you have not done these things, you have not finished EVE.

It's a good option.
I've played since 2006 without interrupting a skill queue.
But i'm constantly taking a breaks, and most of the time i don't actually play, just returning for a month or two and then stoping for a four or more.
Sometimes it's something in RL prevents me from playing, but most of the time it's my decision to spend more time in RL and don't be too attacthed to EVE. But i like this game, think about it a lot, read the news. And when i want to play, i play how i want and i have a cool skills for that.
And i want to thenk CCP for an oppertunity to play the MMO without throwing out a precious days of life...

in 2007 i've thought it's a sci-fi simulator, not an "e-sports" game. I'm not a teenager, how would i like it much?

GF made me sub back in 2005/6 ...due to a little bit to much early morning playing/skill training alarms/having to log into her account to send me a message to say night night when she went to bed etc :P

Came back a couple of years later when I had more time, and only nearly unsubbed due to incarna. It was just horrible logging into the ******** avatar rather than my wonderful spinning ship
