from the links, the clonebay and the compression you get the idea that the rorqual is intended to be a mining base where you don't have a pos/station etc. the rorqual is a facilitator

the best thing to do if off-grid boosts were nerfed is to more fully explore the 'self-sufficient mining op' thing. the goal should be to make it a ship you want to use where you don't have a forcefield, make it something that works

op mentioned a forcefield?

My conclusion would be that CCP completely remove the need for the Rorqual to be sieged to use its abilities. The other option would be to somehow give the rorqual an ability to temporarily create a mobile POS shield which will run when the industrial core runs. Not sure how that would work though

let rorqual deploy a small forcefield with a half-hour reinforce timer? time enough to scramble a fleet? would it make fights? could it let corps defend a mining op without having to babysit the barges?

would it be abused? :/ there's a lot of meta i don't know

I would like to see it become basically invulnarable (maybe 99% resists or something) while the core is active, but have zero offensibe abilities. You could also lock down the fuel bay when under attack, that way it can't be refueled while under attack. That would basically give the defenders a couple hours to muster up a defensive force to save the Rorqual.

I would probobly use it on the field under these conditions. I would at least give it a try.

Just my two cents.

Yes I pretty much agree. I actually think the rorqual has pretty good offensive capabilities right now, and defensively it isn't bad either at at all. The big thing for me though is you are stuck for 5 minutes so once you commit the ship to a siege cycle there is really no way to react to the enemy.

Have your corp/alliance mates out to defend it.

Yeah, its defense would have to be improved {ie to where it can tank 2 supers easily}.........

Mining links != warfare links

Mining links will remain anywhere in system while combat links will become on grid only

the only way it makes sense, there can never be a reward in mining making up for the risk bringing a rorqual in

if ccp doesnt do it like this the rorqual is a useless ship

I think your both missing the point. What would be good for the game and for everyone, is to enable rorquals to come out of the POS shield. Simply making them not affected by the OGB nerf would be like putting a bandage on the problem. People would still just keep them under the POS shield.

i think you are missing a big point here and some other not so big as well

good for the game ? well that is crap kid, i think every individual has a different opinion on what is good for the game

rorqs do not want to come out of the pos fields, period. why? well i thought this is a nobrainer but lemme explain - rorq = superexpensive ship - mining boost incl imps n stuff a BIT better than orca

so noone not utterly stupid would field a rorq for miningboost - the risk reward is beyond everything

why risk a multi billion cap ship for fkin <5% more mining yield

if ccp forces rorqs to be on grid i will blow up mine^^ no not because bittershit just because its lucrative^^ more than let it rot unused

i get the feeling ccp consists of a lot of ppl with no understanding of the game at all, sad times ahead

Don't forget that the on-grid operation also adds over a billion ISK of risk in a mindlink, plus the cost of other implants and clone upgrade.
