Been thru two rounds of layoffs at my current employer. It's never fun. But my experience has been, we've ended up better after each time.

Perhaps the same will hold true here.

I'll certainly miss all of you. Even you, Zymurgist, after deleting so many of my posts.

IMO a horrible decision to gut the community team when you could have saved more money and resources by having Hilmar step down and hiring a Capuchin monkey, but that's just me, I guess.

These people are extremely passionate about their work, and each of them is tremendously talented. It has always bugged me that players never truly got to see this side of EVE Online’s devs unless they went to Fanfest. When you speak face-to-face with someone at CCP about EVE Online, that’s not just some mask they are wearing for three days… EVE Online is something we love, something we want to grow, and something we are proud of. In this respect, EVE Online’s devs really are not that much different from players, even if I know you might not believe me when I say it.

And of course, none of this would happen without you, the players, the most amazingly insane bunch of space assholes (1, 2) ever to play an MMO ever. I have been so incredibly blessed to have had the privilege and honor of working for you all these years, and thank you for allowing me into your universe. Not a day has gone by where I wasn’t either amused or shocked by some of the crazy things you guys would come up with. Every day was an adventure; every day was an experience that I can’t ever forget. I am indebted to the EVE community teaching me both passion and humility, and for reminding me how important the voice of a community is during both the good and bad times.

So, what does the future bring for me? I’m not entirely sure. To be honest, I am a bit scared and concerned, but I am hopeful. I do realize that I am probably going to have to stop wearing pajamas all day, and introduce myself to some soap, but I am confident that things will be okay. And I wish the same thing for all of my friends who currently are on the same boat as I.

Please do fly safely. I’m going to go now, because I am starting to cry.

P.S. Yes, I know what’s coming into the game next. No, I will not tell you

Again, how does gutting the community team help with the 'improved communication' we are been promised?

This seems very strange and makes a certain recent post by a certain CEO seem like a lot of hot-air.

They promise more work on FIS, then fire 20% of the staff? It would be nice know exactly which 20% were fired...... by department or a certain CEO is going to end up with egg on his face once again and even more people quitting because they don't trust the direction he is taking EVE.

I know quite a few people from EVE were looking forward to WoD as well..... as it stands atm, not sure I would put any money into it!

1/5 of the work-force is a big deal, really there should of been an offical announcement about it somewhere as it is just making CCP look bad atm.

-The sword is only as sharp as the one who wields it! Other names: Drenzul (WoT, WoW, Lineage 2, WarH, BloodBowl, BSG, SC2 and lots more)

We are just people playing a freakin spaceships game, that was sadly getting stupider and stupider by the day.
We got bored and then we started to quit.

CCP saw this, lost money and are now laying off people.



It is the fault of those who decided to make EVE into their cash cow for other projects, and now others will get fired because of their stupid decisions. It has nothing to do with the eve community.

The idiots blaming the community seem to be the typical neurologically challenged CCP sycophants that seem to materialize every time CCP does something really stupid.

We understand layoffs. But we question the methodology in what and who. And fairly so.

I wish I could appologize to fallout for challenging her on the forums during the monacle debacle. I met her at fanfest and one female programmer with male avatar to another she suggested I apply to work for ccp. Well if you're willing to travel to usa.. my boss plays eve at work and is hiring!

I never imagined this.

What rocks are the most isk per hour to mine? Which of your mission loot is worth more refined than sold? What blue prints make the most proffit? Answers: https://eve-industrialist.com/ Never sell an item for less than its mineral costs again!

This is not a good day.

I've seen so many friends in the same boat, I truly feel for the guys and gals that have been done over here.

And done over they have been - at a time when ccp is on it's knees begging for forgiveness, they fire the community team. Good work.

Am "only" 3 years old but the more I read, the less time I think I have =(

My hope goes out to you guys - may the hiatus be a short one.
