+1 again for customizing colours for our colour-blind brethren.

you would think graphics drivers would implement a built-in colorblind mode with adjustable settings
that would require 0 effort from game companies by providing global colorblind access

I've always wondered if colorblind people can use anaglyph 3D

This is... not so easy to implement as you might think. Especially from a usability standpoint. A color swap that might be really useful on one application could be horrible for another.

Really I'm not even sure this level of color adjustment is possible at the driver level.

It's a great idea in theory, if you could somehow make it happen go do it but I don't think that's so easy What?

I have raised this issue with CCP before, and will continue to do so. I've started a thread in the CSM internal forums about this and pointed interested devs to this thread.

Players with particular types of color-blindness may wish to list examples of where the interface lets them down and potential remedies that they think will have good "bang for buck" in addressing the issue.

I'm Red/Green colorblind and have found replacing Red with Blue solves every stinking problem.

A perfect solution for EVE would be placing a selectable button in the Display & Graphics Settings section of the Options Menu. This button would be titled "Colorblind Mode" and would replace red items with blue when selected. Doing this would satisfy most Red/Green color blind issues in EVE Online.

In case the Devs need a reference, wikipedia has some great images demonstrating how colorblind folks see the rainbow:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorblind

Also, this guy hits the nail on the head on how to solve colorblind issues in game design:
http://designshack.net/articles/accessibility/tips-for-designing-for-colorblind-users/

If the dev team can just stick with what is suggested in that article for the colorblind mode, I think the problems will be mostly solved.

EVE is an illness, for which there is no cure.

Can you add what "level" of colour-blindness you suffer from please so that it can help garner information for a possible resolution?

Thanks to everyone supporting this so far and 2013 maybe the year our affected brethren get a resolution Smile

Not colour blind but fully support. I think about this every time I see sites pop up on the discovery scanner. I'm surprised they are so naive (or just don't care).

So have a bump.

i have Deuteranomaly i think its in english basicly i cant see specific spectra of reds and greens and with certain color schemas ie C4 space they merge to the background perfectly for me. same happened back in battlefield 3 except with red colors XD that was fixed with simply by adding a dark border around the "doritos" and making it slightly more orange and darker

Thanks for coming back with that Naraish, I'm sure it'll help add to the stats of what to look for if they (Dev's, GM's, CSM) are watching this thread.

I'm color blind and I'm not so ignorant to think that the game developers should go out of their way to program special features into the game so accommodate for my disability. What is this, "Eve Online: America edition"? Are we going to start providing wheelchair ramps for the pod loading docks, and develope a special Eve monitor for the blind that uses brail?

If you have a condition that prevents you from using a product as intended, learn to adapt or don't use the product. You should know this rings true for everything else you do in your life dealing with color blindness, why should video games be any different?

Also, it isn't rocket science, but most colorblind PC gamers use color profiles under nvidia/ATI driver settings that change colors so you can see them.

Stop being so high and mighty and realise the disability, our disability, could be a hell of a lot worse.

It could be worse but then isn't this the age of technological advancements where Colour Blindness should be easily accommodated for?

Some of your examples above were quite ridiculous "wheelchair ramps for the pod loading docks" or "special Eve monitor for the blind that uses brail" but please respect other peoples feelings on the issue as I respect that you obviously aren't seriously affected by this\your hardware can accommodate your impairment better than others\you just trolled as you thought it's be funny to.

I'd just like to see a level playing field and I don't think that's too much to ask for really.

From a different thread but seems they are considering colour blindness when developing future releases:

Sorry but I'm really not the person to ask. I know that for the stuff my team is doing for winter we've tried to look out for color blindness issues as much as possible, but that is mostly related to new feature work rather than old UI improvements.
