Here we go again with my semi annual plea to CCP to account for the fact that colour blind people play this game too.

RED IS BAD

GREEN IS GOOD

works jsut fine if YOU CAN *SEE* RED AND GREEN!!!!!

Basically, Odyssey exploration will be off limits to colour blind players.... again

CCP failed to listen to us... again

And yet another feature has been introduced with red=bad greed=good

FFS guys... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen at least once in 10 years to people who have been pleading with you for 10 years.....

Either put some colour blind people on your test panel or allow us to customize colour settings. You've been ignoring this advice for 10 years and it's getting really frustrating.

Odyssey introduces new exploration.... with scanning that includes red=bad green=good and cans popping out of objects in space with red=bad, green=good... that you have to react to under time pressure when you can't even see the mother.....ffafasfdasjkl;afd difference!

For the ... what is it?... 20% of EVE players who are colour blind, this means... no exploration for you.

Scanning already sucked HARD because of the abysmal choice of colours... now it's going to suck HARDER in double time.

I literally don't know what to do to get this point on the agenda but 10 years of moaning about it has delevered ZERO listening.

aaaarrrrrrgggggg!!!!!

I wil pod you all and eat your frozen corpses with ketchup! LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN... AT LEAST ONCE FFS.

I'm not colour blind, but listen to this guy. It can't be rocket science to add an option for him to set another colour...

I think it depends on how badly colour blind you are. There are differing degrees.

In my case I have a type of colour blindness whereby the colour red more or less doesn't exist in my world.

It's hard for a lot of people to imagine, but I have a driver's licence and when I approach a traffic light that looks like it's turned off then I stop.... because that probably means it's red.

On rare occasions I have stopped for traffic lights that have literally been turned off... because I can't tell the difference between turned off and red.

In an EVE online context, I have an elite prober alt too and I've lived in wormholes since they were first added. I can actually see the red dots, although they look dim-brown, and I sometimes need to move the probes out of the way to see on a black background what they've detected.....

I also have an uber-alt that I use to scout with for roams, though and the little red squares that ships create if they overlap planets are literally invisible. I've moaned bitterly about this in the past but CCP has, over the last 10 years, consistently ignored any feedback from colour blind people.

My adivce to anyone reading this thread who feels that it's necessary to address this issue would be to ensure that the CSM member you voted for hears about it. I'm an optimist and although CCP have been very persistent in ignoring this, perhaps the CSM can get it on the agenda.

I'm colorblind myself, so I fully support this idea.
Give us a choice to code the information in other colors or other forms of brackets.

E.g. the difference between partial and full safety is nearly impossible for me to see.

Yeah, I've had to set all safey's to "off" because of this. It means I need to know the mechancis but at least that way I know what state it's in.

Or better yet, dont make us chase cans across the screen after hacking, people with poor eyesight of any kind, a slow computer/connection, or really ANYBODY not in highsec, will find the enw system unusable. lag = unclickable loot, poor eysight = cant see the feakin boxes/ cant see which ones to click. not in highsec? = herpderp was chasingc ans around the screen so wasnt able to see that insta-cane come on grid and pop me.

Can't be hard to implement.

Also would be nice for operating systems to have built-in settings to adjust to the specific color vision of the user.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Valid concern here. I'm not colorblind, but I definitely believe that those who are should not be barred from any sort of content for that reason alone. Perhaps differentiate between things not just by color but also by shape, when possible?

League of Legends has a colorblind mode as it is heavily dependent on being able to see red and green also. It looks really odd to me in colorblind mode but then I'm not colorblind. Either color settings or colorblind mode shouldn't be too hard.

Alternatively simply adding marks or changing shapes should work too as long as there is something to differentiate items other than color.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.
