this feature have been here forever, its called and ALT account

whats good about this??

its gonna cost the same as running another acc, that you can actually play on, have 2 cynos alts or 2 noob spys or whatever.

now we get the option to pay for 2 and only able to play whit one.

also. CCP, i thought you learned by having 2 options right next to each other. add game time and this right under each other is bound to fill up your pettion system!

Simple.
Now if you have something like RvB/losec frig alt, you either have to pay for both of them even if you don't multibox it with your main, or stop your main's training while training an alt. With this new feature you need to pay for 2 accounts only as long as your frig alt need training, after that you can have 2 character for the price of 1.

Technically, you can do that right now, but the (only) difference is that you have to stop your main's training in order to train another character on the same account. In the future you'll (presumably) be able to use PLEX in order to "compress" the time.

This is such a troll feature.

1. If you want a limited SP pilot, such as a cyno alt, refiner etc. Just use your buddy key to activate a trial.
You get 21+30 days gametime on your alt and also +30 days of gametime to your main.

51 days is enough to train most of the "trash alts". Even if not, it takes a while before the profit of an alt account starts to neglect towards dual training.

2. You play the same price as if you would maintain an alt account and still can't play them at once. And at the end, if you DO want to play those two at once, you pump in another 2 PLEXes to transfer the idle pilot.

Have fun!

What a solid plan.

it's like after 19 pages people still don't get it.

i know i didn't quite get it at first, but at least it didn't take me nearly 20 pages to grasp how awesome it is.

CCP, can we have the same feature but instead of PLEX, we use exotic dancer? up until now, Exotic Dancer is pretty useless beyond 'vanity' item and lol item in loss mail.

Imagine, you can 'sacrifice' an Exotic Dancer to the training god to train your alt!

EDIT. Forgot to mention. This is an excellent new feature. If people don't like it, no one is forcing you to use this feature. Now I can train low SP FW pvp pilot rather and orbit the button...

To answer a few more of the recurring questions in this thread.

We have initially limited this to two characters on an account. This has been discussed with Dr Eyjo (our lead economist) and a number of other important parties. We will be monitoring the uptake of this feature very closely and are interested in what we might learn from it. It's great to know that many of you see the value in it and we intend to put in a few more new UI elements before it goes live.

Please continue with any specific concerns, requests or ideas. The team is reading this thread and taking note of interesting points of discussion as well as putting pressure on getting a developer blog out before too long.

I'm 100% fine with this. I find the whole character bazaar thing to be quite convoluted and archaic. Basicly, it was always possible to train a second character as long as you paid the monthly fee. This just removes the need to also have 2 seperate accounts, so basicly nothing changes except that we don't have to start proxy accounts for our alts. Whats not to like?

I like how CCP Engineering is a completely different corp and alliance than the regular CCP. You guys should declare war on the other CCP alliances. PTwisted

Well... i dunno, might be usefull for some people, but does it let u use both chars at the same time? Prolly not right?

With that in mind, i'd rather have a 2nd account instead of a trained alt on my main account.

Most of my alts stop training after a certain point and aren't necessary to dual-box. I'm going to use this feature.

Here's a hypothetical: Yeah, you can train on a separate account then do the 2 PLEX transfer. What happens when you decide to expand on that alts training to react to game changes etc?

You spend another 2 PLEX moving to a separate training account,

Then 2 more PLEX to get it back onto the active account before the training account lapses,

On top of whatever game-time you buy to train with.

You folks have fun doing that then.

Ye,a I honestly don't get it, how are people smart enough to play the game yet not smart enough to understand why this idea is super useful to some folks.

Over and over again I and others have said "I have multiple accounts, i don't want more, i don't want to pay transfer fees, i don't care that i can't play both chars in training at the same time (I alredy have multiple accounts for dual boxing and such) etc etc" and some people still don't get it.

Sometimes I'm just sitting around and blam, and idea comes into my head for something cool to do in game and i have a toon on one account that can ALMOST do it, but if I want to train that all to "all the way and ready", i have to stop traiing on my main. This new feature means I DON'T have to stop training on my main just to try out new stuff with another character on the same account.

I get to experiment more with my toons, CCP gets money they wouldn't have gotten otherwise (because power of 2 or no power of 2 I'm not getting a 5th account, even if it's "free") and everyone with any sense should be happy,

Again, why is this hard to grasp for some people?

Hey all,

RubberBAND here from the team implementing this feature. First apologies that you have not seen a Dev Blog about this. We had planned for one to go just prior to Fanfest, but that plan fell through. We hope to have a Dev Blog out sometime soon, but we don't have an ETA for you all yet.

To answer some of the questions in this thread, we are very interested in feedback regarding this feature and how useful you may find it. As most have figured out, this is a short term option for people who want to train an alt on their account without having to maintain two (or more) accounts.

If you are training two characters and the dual character in training runs out, the character with fewest skill points is assumed to be the alt and will be paused, while your character with more skill points will continue training.

Anyway expect more information soon, till then keep this thread rolling.

+1
But i suggest that skill with longer quene continue to skill

Liking this feature, as I am currently toping up the skills on my research/manufacturing alts. It would be nice to not have to stop training my main.

In hindsight my post should have had more psssshhhh

I see this as a great benefit to someone like myself. I have 3 accounts all of them incursion pilots who spent there time flying all over universe to fight off the sansha horde.

There are times when incursions are not available and can be down for 1-2 days. when this happens the choice is to either jump clone to a new clone to pvp (you don't pvp in a top end incursion clone unless your a fool) or fly 25+ jumps with multiple characters just to set up a mining op only to have to move again when a new incursion spawns. With this option I can side train a mining fleet in just a few short months and not have to worry about plexing miner accounts that only get used 3-5 days a month.

This option is not for everyone but some of us will find a great use for it.

The bigger question is will we get a button to log out the character and get back to the character selection screen?

Quoting for emphasis. Please do this. Don't make me bite my monitor every time I want to use that nice new shiny alt.
