30 days dual character training - now on Singularity

In keeping with the accelerated training scheme, here's something I've always though was long overdue.

An item, remarkably similar to the current Advanced / Prototype Cerebral Accelerators, that are purchasable via the website with either cash or a PLEX that would double the base attributes of a character from 99 to 198. Effectively enabling a substantially faster training rate. These items would not have the 7/14/35 day restrictions.

If 100% is too much then you could always just have +10, +15 or whatever to each attribute.

I'd rather half alts that train at half or quarter speed for free. :\

That said I'd like to see it made so that normally training two characters reduces training speed to 1/x, so training all three trains the three characters at a rate of 1/3.

You can do this already... train for X number of days on character 1, pause training on character 1, train for X number of days on character 2, pause training on character 2, etc.

Yeah, but that's a pain. I'd prefer the slow burn of simultaneous training.

I hope that works as intended cos having 2 chars on the same account with skills queued don't automatically start as it is when one finishes and its time for the other to start.

What is the benefit? If you are paying a PLEX to train a character; wouldn't it be SMARTER to have it on a second account so you can use both of them simultaneously?

In the old days I would of used this to train up my alts on this account for science and industry and hauling as it was I did it by optimizing my training and taking time out of my main,I would pay a plex for another Character slot to move some more of my industry / science to this account -they need no more training

Wont be useful for multiboxing but you could say have a hauler, market alt and an industry alt all training stuff on one account Instead of having them spread across 3 accounts.

It's still great for multiboxing.

My combat alts can have some hulks (which will cost 5 plex worth of training each) on the same account. My space-coffin supercap accounts can do the same thing, and then there's the dedicated miner accounts I'm already setting up.
Now I don't have to take my combat setup to the other side of the galaxy every time I need money, and my isk/account is significantly higher than it would be if I had just put a bunch of miners on separate but equal accounts..
You could always just buy characters, but finding a focused character that doesn't suck and or have way too much SP is physically painful. Go read the character trading forum some time. It'll make you realize that suicide gankers truly do Space-God's work.

"Why don't you just train hulks on even more accounts then do a transfer hurr :downs:"

1.) Effort. Go set up 8 buddy-invited accounts to train hulks on, then set up APIs for your corp and misc eve tools.
2.) When you plex a buddy invited account, the account that sent the invitation gets 30d worth of gametime. I PLEX all my stuff anyways so it's basically a free month. Perfect T1 strip miner hulks are going to take me something like 4 and a half months. That's basically 3 PLEX after the trial, plus 2 plex transfer fee.
Great! I accomplished the same thing for the same price! And all it cost me was significantly more effort, and the ability to train them in the future without screwing up my other dudes!

Re-re-re-re-re posting this.

tl;dr Some of us want a focused alt that doesn't train forever, but we still would like the flexibility to train them again if we needed to.

Also Eve players are shockingly illiterate. See the post below this one for details.

lol, i'd use this feature too. Oh wait, I need to pay to keep an alt on the same account active.

"this is a short term option for people who want to train an alt on their account without having to maintain two (or more) accounts."

Because it must be extremely difficult logging into two different characters from the drop down box at character log in.

Where is the benefit, hard to see any.

To answer some of the questions in this thread, we are very interested in feedback regarding this feature and how useful you may find it. As most have figured out, this is a short term option for people who want to train an alt on their account without having to maintain two (or more) accounts.

If you are training two characters and the dual character in training runs out, the character with fewest skill points is assumed to be the alt and will be paused, while your character with more skill points will continue training.

Anyway expect more information soon, till then keep this thread rolling.

You say this is "short term", does this mean there will be a hard cap on your allowable time to use this feature per account?

Please say no.

Fun fact: You can train a really good T2 catalyst in 29d. Go kill some ice miners.

He's saying it's not exactly meant to be used for characters that are going to be trained for years. I don't think he was implying a cap in this case.

Wow... Everyone's super excited, but this seems like a pointless change to me.
It costs the same to run a 2nd account, except with a 2nd account you can usually use things like power of 2 to get extra time and such. Then you can log them at the same time as your mains.

I've always run my PI alts on a new account, then worked them up to more than PI alts until they are mains in their own right and can pay for themselves, then rinse repeat.

To make this change worth it, the plex needs to give you a better boost on your main account than it would on a new account, so make a plex worth 45 days of dual training vs 30 days of account time for example.

consider the following; that pi character is now on your main account, and doesn't need paying for at all when you're finished training it.

and just like that "paying for itself" has just became pure profit.

Except because that PI alt can now pay for itself it can continue to improve while I can pay for another new one. As an example, one of my PI alts is now a capped exhumer pilot and a freighter pilot as well as PI, so she pays for herself with profit.

Just seems to me that there's not enough benefit to this. PI alts are pretty much all you need as alts on your main account as its the only passive profit really, and you can train one to profitable in considerably less than 30 days.

*shrug* if you don't see the benefit in having a character designed for a specific purpose available 24/7 that you don't have to pay a subscription for then i don't know what to say to you.

i'll admit, (check the first page) i didn't really see the use for this either. however the more i sat and thought about it the more and more uses i could find for it, and the huge benefit this offers and how much sense it makes on every level is overwhelming.

there's absolutely no bad sides to this idea and it's far from a "pointless" change.

personally i'm tempted to train a PI/trader to sit in jita, log in to it once a day at most to adjust some orders and fiddle with PI as a nice passive income source.

Pretty much, everyone who's marking this as "pointless" simply aren't thinking things through enough, or are only looking at it from their own use case.

This will be of rather limited utility to me, but only because I've already gone past the time when this would've been very useful - when I'm skilling up specific-use alts on some of my accounts. Could I have created a new account for the alt? sure, but then I'd have to keep the account active if I want to use it, so instead of paying 1 plex per month for 1 account with a main and 2 alts, I'd have to pay 3 plex a month for 1 main and 2 alts, not what I'd consider ideal.

and no, I don't need my market or cyno or PI alts to "grow" into mains, I've got enough of those already.

some small things:

1. what about the second alt (third character), can i train that one as well ? i don't really see a reason against it
2. what about RL money ? any chance i can get the same thing for another 15€ / month ?
