I've been using Character Monitor for EVE Online from the App Store.

I really like it because with the latest update I can now set a training plan based on the Mastery tab. I just create a new plan, right click the ship, go to Mastery, and say "Add Mastery 5" and I'm golden.

Still using Vitality to check whether my queue is active, but have had to give up on most of its functionality.
RIP in peace, fair vita. o7

Do not actively tank my patience.

A new, but very pre-release version of Vitality is available at:

https://github.com/sixones/vitality/releases/tag/v0.2.11a

From the release notes:

This is a pre-release, experimental version.

It includes the Hyperion database (August 2014) inside the application. In order to get Vitality to use the built-in database you will probably need to delete both URL's in the Database pane of the Preferences window, then re-launch the application.

The Skill Plan view has been heavily modified, including limited support for sorting both the skill plan overview (list of skill plans) along with even more limited support for sorting skills within a plan. Right click on either table header to choose which columns to display or to revert to manual sorting. Drag and drop table column headers to move them within the table.

You are strongly encouraged to back up your existing Vitality installation before installing this version. Save a copy of the previous version of the application along with the contents of the ~/Library/Application Support/Vitality folder.

Yet another alpha release.

https://github.com/sixones/vitality/releases/tag/v0.3a

The minimum database version has been updated to 17 for the Oceanus 1.0 database, which is included inside the application.

Large changes to the skill plan view. Skill plans are now a master/detail pair of tables:

  • All columns can be moved by dragging and dropping the column header.
  • Right clicking on a column header will bring up a contextual menu letting you show or hide columns, along with menu items related to sorting.
  • Because of the previous changes the Skill Plan related Preference pane is no longer necessary and has been removed.
  • Skill plans and skills can be sorted by clicking on a column header, except for columns whose data is calculated (e.g. Running Total, Start/Finish Date).
  • The Manual Sort menu item will undo all sorting, reverting you to the last manual sort.
  • Sorting skills within a plan may well violate skill pre-requisites. Skills that no longer follow their pre-requisites are displayed with a red name. The "Fix Prerequisites" menu item will attempt a minimal re-ordering of skills to satisfy all pre-requisites. The new order will be set as the latest manual sort.
  • When changing tabs in the Skill Planner search section (i.e. Skills, Certs, Ships, Modules) the search field is cleared since it's likely to not make much sense for a different kind of search.

The Database preference pane now updates properly if the database has just been updated.

Changed the way ships are sorted into races in the Ships search view so all ships should now be visible, specifically ORE ships.

The code has been cleaned up a lot to remove compiler warnings and to eliminate some memory leaks.

Excellent app, if only I could add my API :D

I get 2x API connection error - unsupported URL errors then this operation could not be completed - no other information available.

I just want to plan skills and calc optimal remap! :)

I was able to reproduce your error just by adding a space to either the key ID or Verification Code fields. I would guess that having other non-alpha numeric character in there would have the same effect. So double checking those values is a good first step.

If you're not using the latest version of Vitality it might be trying to connect to the non-secure api server (http://) instead of the secure one. If that's the case, you'll need to update to the latest version.

Unfortunately, if that doesn't work I'm not sure what to try next. Those URL's are not being dumped to error logs anywhere that I can find.

Can you send me a crash report or copy/paste from console logs after a crash?

Open Console.app (in /Application/Utilities) and copy everything you see that's related to Vitality and mail it to me, in game, Don't post it publicly because your API key might be in there. Or you can delete all of the key related stuff which will look something like this: ?keyID=[numbers]&vCode=[numbers and letters]. With your API key id and code where the "[…]" bits are.

Probably the easiest way to get just the Vitality related stuff from Console is to "Show Log List" (in the View menu) if the side bar on the left isn't showing. Then make sure that "All Messages" is selected in the log list. Then type Vitality in the search field in the top right of the window. You can then select a bunch of the most recent entries and copy/paste them.

There might be an actual crash log in the log list under: Files, ~/Library/Logs, CrashReporter. The name would begin with 'Vitality'.

Thanks!

I've had a problem with this app for some time now. Appeared in the last stable version, and also in the beta that is up.
Basically the app does not take into account any implants when calculating the training time, leaving it constantly out of whack with the time given in game.
I have completely removed the app on several occasions and re-downloaded without any effect.

Any one else having this problem, and is there any fix?

Copied from my character sheet:

Huh. Guess that shows how rarely I fly in anything but a blank clone. Working on it.

PS Ok. Not sure host to post XML...

I'm having this issue as well. It's an irritant to be sure.

Edit: just saw the potential fix, and installed it, but I still seem to be about a day behind my actual training times.

Vitality used to be such a great tool; is it still being updated or is the project dead? (If so, thanks for it while it lasted.)

There's a new release that includes changes (improvements, hopefully) to how the Vitality database is updated. If you were plagued by continuous attempts to download a new database, this should fix that.

Plus some minor display fixes to skill, ship and module detail windows.
The obsolete clone grade info has been removed from the character sheet.
It also includes the Proteus database for all your Confessor needs.

Latest versions don't open on my computer. Just straight up doesn't load.

10.8.5 on Core i5

Edit: Never mind, I just can't read. Apparently my security settings decided to roll back and not allow me to open apps from "unauthorized sources" or whatever.
