Any help would be super appreciated.

Thats a strange one, looks like the Vitality database has become corrupt.

You could try wiping out the Vitality preferences, and seeing if that helps. You can reset the preferences by closing Vitality and either dragging Vitality into something like AppZapper or opening Finder and pressing CMD + SHIFT + G to open the "go to folder" window, and then pasting; "~/Library/Application Support/Vitality" without the quotes. Delete everything thats inside of this directory, and then reopen Vitality and add your characters.

If you wipe your preferences remember to make a note of all the API characters you have set up as these will be deleted from Vitality and need to be added again.

Thanks very much! This solved everything. Smile

This might be a little "interesting" to implement since we need to make sure that all pre-requisites are still met. For example, I currently have a skill plan with Energy Grid Upgrades V (9d+) and Heavy Assault Cruisers I (38m). If I tried to sort that by training time, it should prevent me from doing that since I can't even inject HAC until I finish EGU.

Not saying it can't be done, but it will require some thinking. If nothing else we would need some way to let the user know why nothing seems to of happened. I will add an enhancement issue for it.

Indeed. It's something I'm used to in EVEMon, but as mentioned, not a big deal (for me at least--I plan few enough skills in advance that I can easily do the sorting in my head).

Are we looking at an update to match all the changes in Odyssey 1.1?

Update is badly bugged for me.
Got the message saying update. Told it to install and relaunch, it did.
Came up with a blank screen. No characters in the tray, nothing showing in the main window. Like it's a new install... only when I open Preferences and look at accounts, they are all still there and checked.

Also, says "Updating characters" and it's spinning endlessly.

Tried unchecking and rechecking some characters, no luck. UNckecked them all, restarted, used the Update button per account and they came back with the checkboxes checked. But still nothing in the main window, and now the "updating" icon is spinning but there is no text next to it.

Running Snow Leopard on an old Mac Pro. First bug I've had since you began Vitality.

(checked the API logs, shows two successful accesses that correspond with the two times I pushed the Update button for this account)

This bug seems to happen when the database changes and theres a problem updating the characters skill queues, or theres a network issue.

Try resetting your cache, close Vitality, open Finder and open press CMD + SHIFT + G, to open the "Go to folder" window, and paste in; "~/Library/Application Support/Vitality" - without the quotes. Delete everything thats inside of this directory and reopen Vitality.

Afraid that didn't work. When I reopened Vitality it looked the same as before... blank main screen, accounts still listed under Preferences. When I tried to update one account, it seemed to pull the characters and make a new folder for it in the Library/App Support folder. However still nothing on main.

At this point I decided to clean out that folder, then reopen Vit and delete all the accounts/keys. Then reopen again. So it downloads a new database, no accounts entered, no folders for the accounts. Added one account, closed prefs without updating... and now the main window shows "Updating characters" the entire time I've been writing this. Then tried to update it directly from the Preferences window with the update button, and it just crashes.

Got somewhere I can post the crash log? can't do it here, eve thinks it's HTML and refuses it
At this point going to revert to 0.2.8 and hope it works still. Heh.

That is very strange, sounds like Vitality is struggling to communicate with the EVE API, we haven't changed anything in this so the latest version shouldn't be the cause. Does 0.2.8 work for you? Could you send me the crash log in a mail in EVE, use http://pastebin.com/ to store it online and il have a look.

You could also have a look at the raw logs via the Console app (inside the Utilities folder), if you type Vitality into the search bar at the top of the app, you will see all the entries Vitality has made, might indicate a problem.

Will do.
Just to be clear, I entered the API key for one account into Preferences, did *not* hit the Update button, just closed Preferences and the "Updating" message appeared at the bottom of the window. When I used the Update button inside the Prefs window, the Eve API log showed a successful data pull (and the Preferences window repopulated the characters with their boxes checked).

Definitely suspect something went pear shaped with the way the auto-update works.

AH, well I found one obvious thing in Console.
9/4/13 6:29:04 PM Vitality[470] CCPDatabase error: (5) unable to close due to unfinalised statements
Followed by a large number of lines that all read
9/4/13 5:51:52 PM Vitality[356] -[CCPDatabase privateCertSkillPrereqs:]: Query error
just gradually changing the timestamp.

9/4/13 5:54:45 PM Vitality[370] NSWindow does not support utility styleMask 0x10
9/4/13 5:55:04 PM Vitality[370] Database successfully built!

then a bunch more lines of Query errors

9/4/13 5:55:06 PM Vitality[370] Character 0 not found
9/4/13 5:55:06 PM Vitality[370] ERROR: Couldn't find character 0. Can't update.

Time to get you a big ol' text dump. Heh.

Update. Apparently my prefs file was malformed, when I threw that out I could run 0.2.8 again. Loaded one account, created test skill plan. Also, the Primary and Secondary column options appeared, which were not working for me previously.

Unfortunately even with a totally clean install, 0.2.9 is still not working. Here's the tail of the Console log:
9/4/13 8:28:55 PM Vitality[825] CCPDatabase error: (5) unable to close due to unfinalised statements
9/4/13 8:28:55 PM Vitality[825] -[CCPDatabase privateCertSkillPrereqs:]: Query error

9/4/13 8:28:55 PM Vitality[825] *** -[NSKeyedUnarchiver decodeObjectForKey:]: cannot decode object of class (NSLayoutConstraint)
9/4/13 8:29:01 PM Vitality[825] Saving Accounts
(at this point it's sitting at "Updating" apparently stuck)
9/4/13 8:30:03 PM Vitality[825] Shutting down

Hmm, will look into this, very strange indeed. If your having a problem, can you confirm if your using the Odyssey 1.1.0 database in Vitality, by opening the Preferences and looking at the Database tab. And the version of Mac OS X your currently using.

Have DB 1.1.0
Mac OS X 10.6.8, stuck on Updating character. Clean install.

Will try home on a bit newer OS

I got the same blank window problem. There must have been changes with API, too, because Mac Eve Tools has for a while been unable to add newly done API keys.

Were working on the problem with the characters being unable to update, if your having this issue. Use 0.2.9 of Vitality to update to the latest database and then use 0.2.8 - the latest database will be compatible. You can download 0.2.8 from; http://labs.sixones.com/vitality/builds/vitality-0.2.8.zip

Mac Eve Tools is not compatible with the new API keys, and EVE know longer lets you generate the legacy keys. This is why Vitality was born.

Appreciate your work on this. Will help avoid those little 'accidents' if I don't boot Win7 for a few days.
