no sound in eve

sorry to bother every one with my newbness But i seem to have lost sound in eve when i first logged in i had sound now on all my logins now their is no sound
running Ubuntu 11.10
not sure what else i should tell you
no sound card just the default Mother Board sound spot, Pulse audio i think

I had to re-run the winecfg today and update the sound settings.

I managed to lose sound too, without changing anything.
