It's "Nyo-sis", not like "nigh-oh-sis", but rather like the "y" sound in "onion".

I guess you philistines pronounce "gnocchi" like "no key" as well? Say it with me: NYOKEY.

Not gnawsis, do you say awperator? It is a short O, I don't think the pronunciation exists in American English, probably because it isn't an American word

Yes, we do say awperator here in the States. Do you have any other word with a short O?

Upload something to soundcloud; this is what I have.

Know-sis; Gnaw-sis; trying to shorten the -o in it.

It's neither and both. The "o" is a short o but not as short as the English short "o". It's a little longer but not as long as the English long "o".

Therefore, it's not "knowsis" and neither is it "knawsis", but rather something similar to "nyuosis". Like I said before, it's like "gnocchi"; not "no key" or "knocky", but rather "nyuokey".

Wrong. Anathema is a Latin word...it's pronounced "Ana Themma", but in English we say "Uh-Nath-Ema"...like the band, hehe. The English version is wrong, but it's common enough to use it. It's not, however, "Anna Theema" or "Uh-Nath-Eema".

Heh, as long as you don't pronounce gnocchi "no key". If you don't know what gnocchi are, disregard everything. If you order gnocchi and ask for "no key", I hope they spit in it.

The d isn't silent, it's simply left off a lot of words that have a g or a j.
