I too cannot log in. I get to the character selection screen and then it just goes to a black screen that times out with "socket closed" Also, As of about 5am (Central) I have been unable to ping eve-online.

I see that the eve subnet is not longer being advertised by CCP BGP AS anymore. It is now advertised by verisign. :(

I'm having trouble even posting on the forums.

New Eden Open is this weekend. I suspect since the problem seems to be isolated they won't even try a fix until Monday when it's over. Let's just hope that downtime fixes things.

I get the same problem. I have to go into the launcher settings and do repair client every time i log off, in order for it to work again.

i tried the repair, clearing the cache... It didn't help me log on. I blame the verisign paranoid security at this point.

My launcher works though. I get a launcher with like 33k people logged on it says, it really just craps out when the ship should show up.

This black screen after character selection and then socket closed (two notification windows saying the same thing) is new for me as well. Annoying.

Same problem as many here. Can't get past character selection on any of my 3 accounts and now my launcher is freezing completely at launch. I've uninstalled and re-installed already doesn't seem to have helped.

Same problem here, on several accounts, I've had this problem for a few days now. If I wait it usually works again untill it fucks up again. What is happening.

Same issues here:
1. Log in via the launcher and choose a character.
2. On actually entering the game, I get two windows of "Socket Closed".
Strangely, it still shows a pop-up notification for any unread mail I have. So it's probably my connection to that specific server or something.

Hey guys, I heard that EVE uses several servers to host itself (not surprisingly). So maybe it's a local problem? Like we're stuck in the specific region, because the server hosting that region is having issues?

Third day that i cant log in properly, i still have issue with the main character in 0.0. but yesterday with a stupid alt of 20 days placed in empire i can enter without problem. today i can't log in with any toon i have

Excuse my words, but i'm quite pissed of this situation, they are 3 days that i can't play properly, i have some skills to update.

P.s : i have already a ticket opened without any reply from yesterday.

Come on. I havent been able to log in since yesterday morning. My skill q is 3h left and still getting socket closed message. What a hell is going on?

Same Problem here since yesterdays downtime.

Can login in launcher, but the black screen after charakter selection stays
unusuallylLong and is often followed by a "Socket Closed" (two windows) error.

For all having issues to log in, what worked for me was to log in another character on that account. (if you have none, just create one - randomize, then relog). - fixed the issue for me several times.

I'm able to get logged in like normal when I use a VPN.

got the same problem here, just sitting with my ship in the lobby, then after awhile 2 socket lost windows, and I have to restart.

it could also happen in the middle of a mining operation... etc etc.

I had it like 5 times yesterday, it's really annoying, and it happened after the last patch, hard to think it's my isp, since it only affects the game, I can surf and do other things just fine.
