Just thought you guys might want a fun read about a classic wormhole situation. Back from 2010.

Let me know what you think!

"Ratting, hopping into the neighboring wormhole, and shooting at asteroids were standard practice during this portion of the siege."

"Unknown to us, the target had spent the last 3 hours hiring mercenaries and using a scanning pilot that had evaded us to get there set up in the wormhole. "

All makes me think that this never actually happened, who would risk running sites or hanging out in the next door system with the ongoing siege? He scanned in 20 people unknown to you? Did not see probes on d-scan?

"We opened fire on the target and the mercenary fleet did not come in until they were sure we weren't going to back away."

How were they making sure you weren't going away? By having one ship point all 6 of you?

"26 battleships"

plus 2 BS that died, plus the logi pilot and the two hics. What sort of fleet comp is that?

We were a newly formed alliance that was figuring on mostly just coordinating our industrial activities while engaging in some fun group pvp operations. That target was a small corp that was smaller than our besieging force. This mostly was done for fun.

Yeah, the people that were on overnight tended to not pay much attention to d-scan. If you want to credit me with more responsibility than I know I practiced back then, by all means I would be happy to have it. Really though I wasn't a very good pvper.

Nah, per the irresponsibility outlined above, we were flying into our own bubble cage that was set up so we could be close enough to fire with blaster/other close range high damage weapons.

We didn't have a fleet comp. Just a lot of battleships to hit a POS with and then some lighter subcaps for support. They thought it would be most effective to use all the battleships, and as non-0.0 non-pvp pilots in a newly formed alliance, fleet doctrine wasn't really one of our main points of interest. Again, this was all more for alliance bonding and fun. Big smile

Thanks for clearing it up, what was the class of the w-space system where the siege took place?

According to staticmapper, J105123 is a Class 2 wormhole. Nothing too challenging, but still no caps available for us to use during the operation.

As I recall it was getting what we could in and then many many cycles and jumps to the new locations. 3 years (this all happened in May of 2010) is a long time to remember all the details, but of course besieging a C2 isn't ever going to be convenient when using larger ships. Even less so when you have only done it about 3 times previously. P
