i didn't miss the point at all. the OP clearly asks why the servers are offline, and nothing more.

your opinion is irrelevant, read what the op wrote and you'll realise your personal gripe has nothing to do with this thread's topic. however, i'm beginning to conclude that this thread is a congregation of people who don't/can't read.

no, actually making a thread asking why the servers are down when it clearly states why on the log in screen is the joke.

surely it's less effort to read the box above the login box rather than close the game, open your web browser, navigate to the forums, and make a thread asking about something you'd have already known about if you'd looked an inch above the login box?

You miss a few important points:

1) if you were logged in prior to that message being added to the login box (say because yesterday was specifically announced as an attempt to break the PCU record) you wouldn't have seen it.

2) CCP had already made a statement that the fireworks would be available every hour until the next DT which was explicitly stated as 11:00 UTC

3) If you fire up the launcher you would get told the server was offline - if it was offline why would you click on play to launch the client? (which is the first point you would get a message stating there was an extended DT)

1) if you didn't try to log in this morning, you wouldn't have realised the servers were offline. so if you know the servers are down, you know why (had you taken the time to read the words in front of your face that weren't "offline")

2) sure ccp ****** up there, but that's in no way related to the OP's question of why the servers were down.

3) you make a valid point, however i don't use the launcher, and nor should any one with any sense. hooray for extra clicks for no reason what so ever.

Normally I agree with most of your posts Tippia, but today there is a public holiday in the UK, which means no work or school. Lots of players wanting to get some Eve time in....

Well i was logged on less than 24 hours ago, and i didn't get to have any fun, now i log on after work and i still don't get to have any fun.....

This was a poorly timed patch/fix/update, whatever, thankyou for continually patching EVE it's great to know that the development/growth never ends, BUT WHY AT THIS MOMENT? It just seems strange....

Sorry for the people who have a holiday today. If I was on holiday with no EVE to play, I would probably be miffed.

It's just a few hours though, hamsters will return - with bigger shoes and well fed!
Take a read through the Dev blogs, always interesting stuff in there.

My only real beef with this is the rather large DUST 514 update I will have to run on my PS3, but Uprising will be worth it.

Tomorrow is the annual celebration of the first "People are mad for no reason" day in Takka-Tukka-Land, which means no work or school. Lots of players wanting to get some Eve time in. I'm glad that CCP checked up before and arranged for the patch to be deployed today instead.

So? Around here, Thursday and Friday are holidays, but I don't particularly expect them to make any concessions for that.

Most likely, they needed to get the patch out ASAP since it ties into a substantial Dust upgrade (which, afaik, is still mainly being developed in Shanghai). And yes, keeping track of the various special holidays people have across the globe is a major faff for very little gain.

Yeah lets take servers down for 4 ,5 hours to put in Aeons graphic fix for low end videocards. But lets make it fun let them redeem this new battlecruiser right before it. Yeah thats great it is actually EPIC and BRILIANT why havent we thought about it earlier!!!!! Fix some cosmetics on your face while your ass is in fire.
