RIG BPO pricing - big jump once researched

is the research time really that valuable on rigs that a simple large t1 rig BPO will move from ~1.5M NPC price to +40M when researched on contract in Jita?

That seems like a really big jump for not too much time in a POS lab.

If someone is willing to pay then yes, then its that valuable. Not sure what the question really is?

I think he is asking why there is such a large jump in price.

My POS is powered by the tears of the poor people. Hence the big price difference.

The tears of the many, outweigh the tears of the few. Or the one. enterprise-psi©

Dunno, have not looked recently, but a while ago it took some additional skills to be able to R&D a rig BPO unless my memory is playing particularly nasty tricks on me.

A 40 mil jump would probably be kinda uncommon in the price even in that case tho.

Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... THWONK! GOT the bastard.

Seems like a market opportunity to me. Have noticed the same trend with other low cost BPOs; they sell for great margins.

Research cost is also likely to go up in the current scenario, which may relate positively to researched BPO prices.

Any colour you like.

granted i haven't been watching the contract prices to know if it is a short-term anomaly or not, but yes, this did just seem like a really large price premium for what looks to be ~2-3 weeks worth of easy research.

Large rigs are basically highest (prior to cap rigs) uses of materials/time in manufacturing, thus material research matters a great deal. Rig BPO prices are low enough that they aren't a big factor.

seconded, the market has likely already adjusted to the rise in pos fuel prices.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Yes and I answered truthfully: Because someones pays this price.

If the OP is citing an open contract* then technically 40M is the price that someone hasn't paid. Or stated differently: a price at which the product has not, and perhaps will not, sell. Realistically there are an infinite number of those.
