I could understand the frustration if you were second or even a close runner up in a tight race, but you came in 5th. You came in behind a training corp. You had a third of the isk killed as pl and now you're mad because you thought you could gimmick your way to the top.

yes we came fifth if you ignore 50b of our kills (which according to the rules were legitimate)

seriously anyone debating this is either a troll or really dumb so I'll give you all the benefit of the (huge) doubt and say "2/10 trolling must try harder"

Semi-srs note, was gonna say that if it was about just shooting players they won fair-n-square, but those weren't the rules and nobody was thinking otherwise pre-announcement.

More importantly, did someone just claim it's not ok to win in Eve using meta, and that PL are fair players? Shocked Get out.

End of the day this competition was about going out and killing as much as you can. PL did that the best without trying to score points on the best meta game way to get an isk score

We where just camping and baiting around lowsec like we normally do ccp came at us..
We tried to do the elite PL thing, & sit in 10% tidi thing and shoot folks that where too busy shooting a nyx to notice,
but got boarded trying to get into system, and sat at the gate for a bit killing folks waiting for traffic control before moving off.

Also we get a lot of kills that don't appear on eve-kill or other sites so your method of "collecting data" is incomplete and CCP owning the servers has all the information they need.

CCP seems really good about laying down rules and then "clarifying" them after the fact. It should come as no surprise that there's a bit of controversy surrounding CCP's King of Lowsec contest.

Snuff Box, of Urine Alliance, were quite sure they had won. I'd gather they were tracking killboards, and did not see anybody come close to their total ISK value of kills. Not even their closest rival Pandemic Legion.

Yet, when all was said and done, CCP announced Pandemic Legion as the winners. Maybe Snuff Box miscalculated their kills. It's hard to say what kills were calculated as part of the contest, because CCP has not released the killmails used. A comparison between the two alliances would be worth seeing.

What we do know is that Snuff Box killed a lot of CCP employees during the contest. And we know that CCP decided not to include CCP kills as part of their calculation. The problem is that the rules did mot exclude CCP employee kills.

Specifically, the rules state:

  • Whoever receives the final blow will be credited with the value of kill.
  • The ISK value will be equivalent to that on the kill report.
  • Only kills made in low security space (0.1 to 0.4 systems) will count.
  • Only kills made after the server comes up on May 5th and before it goes down on May 6th will count.
  • All kills which adhere to these guidelines will count, regardless of the circumstances surrounding them.

I've bolded the all-important rule. All kills that adhere to the guidelines. And the guidelines don't discount any particular type of kill, including kills of CCP employees of celebratory roams.

Maybe Urine Alliance did win. Maybe CCP didn't want the hassle of dealing with an alliance without a logo, even though the rules state: "In the event the winning alliance does NOT have an in-game logo, we will figure something out." Maybe CCP didn't want to figure something out. Maybe CCP didn't want Urine Alliance flying high and proud over CCP headquarters.

We'll never really know. But, it would be damned nice if CCP could create a set of rules and adhere to them, not changing and adding rules after the fact. It would be fantastic if players knew what was legal and not-legal before a contest began, and not given that information afterwards.

I am pissed. This watering down of the rules should not be allowed. It is a dark stain on the reputation of the urine alliance. We beat the odds and are clearly number one. This results which drips with favouritism will leave a mark upon the rest of ccp's competitions. It is a splash in the face for everyone involved. Without a doubt this corruption soaks the reputation of CCP. This stinks.

You could easily argue the CCP getting killed another way. What if the kills did count and everyone came posting here accusing CCP of favouritism and running from groups like Fweddit but welping horribly into Snuff? I honestly think that CCP didn't realize how big of an impact their dev roams would have on the numbers until after the event and realized it would look worse if they did it the other way around.

Also, I doubt that this had much to do with Snuff's name, since in the case they did win and the URINE thing was that big a deal to CCP, they would probably just use Snuff Box like they do when mentioning Fweddit over the alliance.

Anyways, I just hope CCP keeps doing more of these and continues to iron things out as they go.

EDIT: Actually, CCP should do two flags just to troll both parties. Snuff has publically teared this thread up so hard that even if they got their flag this whole thread pretty embarrassing and then as way to troll down PL's hilarious levels of smug.

Queen of lowsec would be fitting..

That is a kill report, right?

You never said anything about the legitimacy of the items.

Holy dev hacks batman. Aurora implants and Snake implants? Good thing the Aurora implants count for 0 isk automatically.
