Thanks for the advice and derisive comments! Big smile

I'm leaning towards the idea of getting out of high sec and heading into low. The Drake idea is a pretty good one - my shield skills are slightly better than my armour tanking ones. Upon further analysis, I think I found another issue with my most recent tenguing.

Two words - Blaster. Brutix. -.-

Is there a reason you can't just ninja loot the NPC?

Couple of neuts, couple sensor damps -range and a long point, tengu is no match.

Then you can be all like 'yeah go on shoot me I fuckin dare you'

I DOUBLE DARE YOU ************

I have actually done this, and it works - tengu came out of warp from the first gate about 2 seconds ahead of me, and then my fat little brutix picked up its skirts and mwd-d right past him and he didn't figure out what was going on and never did shut off his launchers, so I blapped the scope as soon as I got there with him miles away. I went suspect and had the loot with him out of scram range anyway, so he could never have prevented me leaving (given the ab vs mwd speed advantage I had).

If I had have been in a myrmidon though, I would simply have blapped the first pocket, looted the overseer and already have been in the second pocket halfway to the scope before the tengu even got in there - a blaster brutix (at least with the expeanded launcher to mess up the fit) is just fundamentally bad at gurista 4/10s, because the npcs won't come to it, and the first pocket has to be cleared - ie its a fun idea but it -causes- tengus to catch up to you.

I guess I am missing it but I don't see why the post involved tengus or why the negative focus is on tengus.
The fact that the thief was in a tengu does not have anything to do with your complaint of being ripped off of your deserved loots.
People have been ninja thieving stuff long before the T3 was even a design concept.
T3 ships will end up being nerfed into worthlessness if confused persons continue to post idiotic statements such as this post.
Try a different title like, "Waaa, they stole my stuff!"

The best tengu fit already got nerfed, and as we've pointed out, the standard exploration all-in-one tengu isn't actually a very good racer, it just happens to tank vs shield enemies very well, and exploration (isk wise) is slanted towards shield enemies.

However the long period of tengu superiority means that most fast explorers are in tengus, so the person that overruns some noob in a cruiser is almost certainly going to be someone in a tengu who knows the encounter and blitzes whatever can be blitzed - it is just what you happen to see if you are slow - odds are that the blitzer that comes to steal the loots is in a tengu.

Except squeezing into 4/10s, right? Because, you know, that's what the thread is about.

There ya go. At least you've more or less identified the problem and several solutions. And yeah, try low. You might like it.

What Zhilia Mann said really. The moment I left caldari space all those many years ago was the turning point for me as far as PVE is concerned. It is just too crowded, sure it is good space but.. too crowded for my taste. The time I spent competing for sites back then didnt make up for the better drops I would get really compared to finding a nice quiet spot of space that wasnt overfarmed.

Second big change was when I with trembling paws headed into lowsec, and found .. empty systems.. It really isnt hard with the help of dotlan and ingame browser to find out when the locals are usually online in the various systems.

is lowsec more dangerous? yes but it is also a hell of a lot more FUN and profitable. Start by taking something cheap out, to get the hang on it, and remind yourself.. dont get complacent just because nothing has happened in a long time. Treat every new pilot that enters the system as hostile. and soon you will learn who is there just for PI and who are just heading through and who the sharks are.

And dont be afraid to talk in local as long as you dont smack. I have had a lot of fun chats with carebears and gankers alike in local.. but perhaps that is just me :)

Time and again, I spend ages clearing a site only for some [expletive deleted] to show up in a goddamn T3 cruiser, steal the faction spawn and zip off. I can't tank an entire goddamn site in a battlecruiser or whatever piece of crap ship I manage to cobble together with the pathetic cashflow I have from radar sites and missions.

So in a nutshell, how the hell do I manage to compete with some [expletive deleted] in an [adjective deleted] T3 cruiser?

Ok, I think I'm done ranting. Some objective input would be greatly valued as well as the usual "biomass character, gief stuff, delete EVE," etc.

That was just one of these idiots, that have no idea about exploration. The only bad thing is that he shut down the trigger site for the expedition, which could trigger the escalation and lead later on to the named. You cant compete them, and just for the quotes, i wouldnt compete in stupidity.

Blitzers and Pickers think they are "explorers" and believe to scan down a site, fly in and pewpew the eventual faction spawn IS exploration. Thats like playing poker and think after receiving the initial cards, the game is done, stand up and go. No, that not exploration, that is more or less stupidity. The truth is not found in a spoiler and in the ability to use a scanprobe launcher, but by solving scanned site, hoping for a trigger for the expedition, solving the expedition level, and from there on you must KNOW what you do to trigger escalation1,2,3,4 and kill the named for really nice stuff :)

And again, no, you wont find information about this in the web. You have to work it out or join a real exploration corp.

I have made a decent living cloaking up in my Tengu , letting people do the work for me, and snatching their loot at the end.
Get used to it.

Get out of trade and mission hubs. If you're getting dropped in on as often as you say, you're clearly too close to a trade or mission hub.
