Is fallowing the Certificate planner the best way of getting Max DPS and HP? If not which skills should i be training? Or how do I tell.

ask someone who flies those ships often. Don't ever follow certificates tbh.

The problem is most people are not upfront with that info. They either aren't sure or are vieg in their answers.

Look at the weapons you're fitting (in this case medium and large blasters). Train medium and large hybrids to V, blaster spec to IV/V and the gunnery support skills to V.

What tank are you rolling with? Shield or armour, train up the relevant shield and armour skills to V, not forgetting the basic skills that increase ships shield capacity, armour and structure HP and there you have max DPS and HP for your Thorax/Talos/Megathron.

And thirdly, certificates are more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules.

There's also many skills that are not immediately obvious.

For example a thorax has a bonus to MWD cap usage and many thoraxes run with a MWD. You need skills like acceleration control and cap skills like energy management to make the most out of it and that's not in any certificates recommended on ships as far as I know.

In the end I suggest downloading something like EVEMon and reading up on what all the skills do and then come back with specific questions pertaining towards individual skills if you don't understand them.

I know that sounds long, boring and tedious but if it is: eve is not the game for you.

Gun skills:
Just keep training them.
The suport skills are more important than the actual gun imo.

Ship skills:
Cruiser V
Battlecruiser V
Battleship V

You can read each ships description and see the bonus's it gives per level. Most ships shine at level V.

Gallente pilots are generally considered 'The drone race'.
Get yourself/Aim for 4 to 5 million SP in drones.

Thorax HAD a bonus to MWD cap usage, which has since been replaced with a more useful (albeit bland) tracking spead bonus.
