PVP Raven - Does it have a place?

I have BS level 5 with perfect missile skills for both Cruise and Torpedo's. I was wondering if the Raven was viable in a small gang or fleet scenario. What are you experiences with it?

I understand IT use to use them in nul sec... but they were dual tanked, and the only way they could be flown was by promising the pilots ice cream and a balloon!

Since Raven will hardly ever catch a thing on his own, why not just get rid of point completely?

You're better off with cruise missile in my experience. I use it with a x-l shield booster for baiting pirates and then I uncloak falcon + curse ~50km off and bathe in tears.

It was a good gank ship in small gangs for lowsec/empire wars back in the days, where people tended to use more BS. Since today bcs and smaller ships are the most common targets it isn't this useful anymore.

In my opinion its really not good for anything except station games (even then a typhoon or maelstrom will do better). Its more of a PVE ship anyways. I would suggest cross training to a different race's battleships if you want a decent PVP BS (You could do minmatar and still be able to use your torpedoes).

If you know you'll be dictating the terms of the engagement and the sphere of combat is small,

a torp raven will sexually violate some faces.

Sadly such situations don't happen enough for the Raven to see widespread use in PvP. If it was able to often and/or constantly apply its dps to most of its targets the thought of a PvP CNR wouldn't make one giggle and dismiss it first then think about its potential later.

Pretty much this. Ship is only good for PvE or a stop gap until you’ve trained for your other ship. If you really must use, then I would try fitting a cap and/or shield RR in the high

If you're uncloaking a falcon+curse on people you've baited, you might as well be running an armor tank and civ guns, your Raven fit doesn't really matter.

I take on 3-4 people at a time so the fit does matter.

4 torps, 4 smart bombs. Use the four damage types with each weapon system and play some techno- it's like going to a rave without having to leave your chair.


Besides that you can local tank the **** out of them and apply DPS with no cap. Nice if you can't fly minmatar I guess.
