What to do about the standing hits?

Hello there,

I don't want to complain about standing hits for engaging in factional warfare - I think it fits.
However I do not want to be "driven out" of a faction's space "forever" :(
I dont want to FW until the end of days, I want to try it out, pew for a while and then get back to other things and I dont want to be restricted from entering a certain kind of empire space.

I intend to run missions, run plexes and PvP however I see fit.

What are the "easiest" or "fastest" (probably still pretty tedious) solutions to grinding back standing or possibly counteracting it while gaining those hits?
There are certain missions which can only be done once, which I do not want to rely on (at least not entirely)..

But it is possible to improve my standing towards one faction without thereby lowering my standing towards all the others, right?

I thought about the Sisters of EVE plot which nets a pretty big standing increase (to "fix" my relations) and then what?

Is there a way to "soften the standing fall" while FW'ing ?

Thanks a bunch in advance, never actually did FW before.

I think you are confusing security status with faction standings.

Unless you are shooting other friendly militia people... aaaaarrrre youuuuu?

If it's a sec-status issue you have two options;

1. Don't engage neutrals first. Let them shoot first. Yes, you're at a disadvantage but remember that you are retaining the ability to go back into high-sec to earn ISK and do stuff.
2. Abandon all hope, give in the dark side, shoot everything that moves, go -10, make a hauler alt in one of your other character slots, and run missions and complexes in low-sec.

I'm a personal fan of #2 btw.

If you really are having faction standings issues;

1. FIX YOUR GODDAMN OVERVIEW AND STOP SHOOTING YOUR OWN GUYS!!!
2. Run Faction Warfare missions.

Thank you for replying but I dont mean Sec status, I already grinded that back up when I quit pirating (stil negative but yarr)

I did not start FW'ing yet, I will definitely go over everything in my overview once I do so it won't happen, what I really meant is standing loss with your faction's enemy.. so as Amarr I would lose Minmatar standing when I plex / do missions and vice versa (depends on whom you hit, faction NPCs give a faction hit)
at least that's what I read so far.. so I am asking if there is a way to counter that (a little).. I am still prepared for some grind though :)

Don't plex, don't do missions. You do not get a standings hit for killing opposing players.

i do not know what is problem with standings, i've been in militia from 2008 and i can still enter every highsec if i leave militia.

Yeah but I do intend to plex and run missions, too

I am not trying to avoid said standing hits, I want to know if there is a way to work against those standing hits while FWing, FW plexing and FW missioning or if somebody knows of a quick way to get standings back up (other than Sisters of EVE epic arc)

Join opposing Militia, farm Standings like mad? I don't FW so maybe this is bad advice.

It depends entirely on what your activities in FacWar will include.
--Plexing requires you to destroy the site Npcs, which result in a standing hit towards that faction. You can no longer capture beacons by simply speed/armor/shield tanking them.

--Running Fw missions require you again to engage enemy militia Npcs, thus standing hit.

--The only Fw activity that doesnt alter negatively your faction standings is destroying war target ships, but you can not Pod them if you wish to keep that route clean.

So basically my advice? join RvB. It doesnt preclude you empire space, it doesnt result in heavy long-run standing losses, and you are free to continue your usual operations minus the war target threat.
If you only want to join to cash in Lp, i suggest using an alternate character, or even think of nullsec pirate missions, extremely good yelding. In a week of lv 4s you can have a nice Bhaalgorn ship/Bpc to jump into Jita. 1.2 bil a week.

If I still havent won your greed, then join in and dont look back. why? If you're looking for quality Pvp, it is one of the most dynamic and target rich environments in the game.

Actually, I was in RvB last time I played..
it's nice and quick PvP, small or larger scale and everything

But it just doesnt have that feeling flyind through lowsec has :(

And I kind of want my engagements to "matter" (even if they dont)

Pirate missions however always sounded like good fun, I'll see about that =)

If you're in it for a duration or to farm missions hard, expect standings hits.

Every promotion boosts you quite a bit, but also stuffs up your enemy related faction standings too.

Not to mention the idiotic standings hits you receive (if you're in a while) like accidentally hitting a few friendly militia with a smartbomb, podding a friendly militia spy noobhip, or shooting a militia pal out in nullsec thinking it won't have any effect.

All the above are possibly avoidable, but then you've been warned - many of us had no such waning and Jita (or other faction equivalent) is a no go.
