More like. Starfleet begins diplomacy with the 4 empires, the capsuleers find out, all hell breaks loose. Then EVE's backstory is fulfilled as Earth is once again in EVE!!! and yeah

Alas, some take the above statements from "The Outrageous Okona"[TNG2] to imply that no simple electromagnetic beam weapon (referring to true lasers) can ever affect the Enterprise, because the navigational deflectors would somehow always protect the ship. However, there are logical and canonical limits.

There is just no way the Enterprise can effortlessly ward off blasts of near-infinite energy just because that energy is electromagnetic in nature. Further, we have seen highly powerful electromagnetic fields affect the ship's technology in other episodes, so a more focused version of that with sufficient power shouldn't be so easily ignored.

So don't worry people, Amarr lasers will work just fine vs star trek ships. Pirate

ST sub-light drives can travel at a significant fraction of the speed of light. http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Impulse_drive

So at a mere 10% of the speed of light, a ST ship will be moving 30,000,000 m/s. (Thirty million meters per second.) The top sub-light speed of Eve ships is what, 20 to 30 thousand meters per second? Targeting range in Eve is limited to 250,000 meters?

That 250 kms range is a fallacy since we know that EVE ships can do orbital bombardments also lest see how a star trek ship will do vs 9,10 frigates fitted with stasis webifier modules. It wont do 10% of the speed of light I can guarantee that.
