jump freighter invention

I'm investigating invention as a possible source of revenue. I have around 70 billion isk to invest and i'm trying to assess whether invention can give a decent ROI on this amount of capital. Currently I have my main + 2 research alts maintaining 33 activities (ME + copying) on blueprints and this is netting me about 2 billion per month (60 million isk/reserach slot/month - can I do better?) .

My perception is that almost all t2 bpc inventors just manufacture the product themselves, however there seem to be a few bpcs like jump freighters that are frequently sold. Are jump freighters the most expensive t2 bpcs? What other bpcs are invented and sold in high enough volume to sell contracts? (I realize that people who are doing this in profitable niches won't want to divulge this information, but perhaps you could share strategies categories that were once profitable & no longer are).

Final jump freighter bpc question - why would anyone ever invent them without using the -1 ME decrypter ( I see ME -3 and ME -5 on the contracts, I can't imagine anyone would actually manufacture those). Are there foolish people that just buy these because they see a lower bpc price?

To be blunt, you need to do some basic research first before looking at jump freighters. Start with the link in my sig perhaps.

I used to do JF invention and manufacturing. Note the past tense. The market has been "flooded" with JF for quite a while now; gone are the days when there was under 20 in Jita of each race, so there is competition to sell.

Your biggest problem will be obtaining freighter copies. You will need a LOT of them, and they take about a month to copy, so you'll have to buy most of them. Be prepared to swallow several billion in invention losses, as you can get unlucky (my worst run lasted a month, and my friends questioned my sanity of throwing billions of ISK into it). Last time I checked, a JF BPC was worth about 350m or so, but is largely dependant on the cost of freighter BPC.

Also with the coming Odyssey changes to T2 materials, I personally don't know how this will effect the T2 markets let alone moon material-heavy JF.

As for the BPC that are not -1 / -1, those are by people that didn't do their homework and realized their mistake too late. They are trying to sell them to other people that also didn't do their homework. [When freighter BPC costs climb very high, then ML -2 two run copies are practical, but only if you are manufacturing yourself.]

EDIT: Also beware of market costs. When you are dealing with billions of ISK, broker fees and transaction taxes are significant. You have to account for these or risk operating at a loss. 1% of 6.5 billion = 65 million ISK.

For guaranteed quick income, send me your 70b and I'll double it. You won't have to mess around with jump freighter invention at all.

the most significant investment for doing this is a ton of freighter BPOs for copying, you will eventually have issues getting rid of them later.
