Survey on Social Behavior in EVE

Hi all,

I’m a doctoral student at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism doing research on MMOGs.
As part of one of my research projects, I am conducting a study on social behavior in EVE. It would help me a lot if you could participate by taking this 10-minute SURVEY.

The data generated will be treated completely anonymously, and if you have any questions, concerns, or are simply interested in the results of the study, please contact me via email (lena.uszkoreit at usc dot edu)!

It would mean a lot to me if you could forward the survey link ingame to your EVE friends and members of your corps, or via forums etc. I know everyone’s time is limited and I really appreciate you taking the time to participate!

(It would be great if you could first respond to the survey and then participate in any possibly arising discussions in this thread so that you will be unbiased by any statements made here.)

Thank you so much in advance! Contact me with questions!

I did your survey. While I didn't like the nature of the repetitive questions, I understand how they can help eliminate rushed replies of those who reply differently to the same questions.

For anyone wondering, the link seems pretty legit, and it doesn't ask for an email, or any personal contact info, something the OP really should have stipulated.

It -does- however, go off on some weird tangent, about making friends in EVE, that you share some sort of special connection with out of the game. I'm inclined to wonder if USC isn't trying to start up some sort of EVE dating and friendship service.

I disagree.

Some of us wear them to get the hot null chicks.

Not this time - no contact information was captured.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Survey made me feel even more paranoid and anti-social =/

There are questions about corps - could be useful to add "amount of players in your corp?" question. Because "player-run corp" often means "single player corp" and it's even more anti-social than NPC corps with hundreds of players in them.

No adverts. Nothing tripped my system's defenses, either. This one appears to be straight up.

Do you feel that your survey may be biased towards more social, helpful people who would self-select themselves for your survey?
