Preparation for removal of Belts?

With the coming expansion and the movement of Grav belts to the System scanner and the fancy new graphics for it, is this a push towards the removal of normal belts and the introduction of just grav sites for mining?

Wouldn't be hard to do, remove re-spawn of normal belts after DT and just let them fade out over new eden and bump up the grav site frequency x5 maybe x10

About time if they did.

I agree, I think it would be great, add that even small increase in the "enjoyment" (lol) of mining

Sure hope so. The current rock fields make no sense anyway.

Depends, not all miners are afk or bots ;)

I'm sorry, but I won't be able to hear that outcry over the sound of my own cheering.Bear

99% certain this has been mentioned at Fanfest discussions before, as a desireable change.

Could be that ice fields are not only the "guinea pig" for this idea, but also the first of several changes yet to come.

Oh, i wasn't talking about these exclusively. ^_^

There are bots, afk miners, those who simply oppose any change,
those who believe that it's too much of a hassle and not worth their time,
then there will be those thinking that it'll be even more dangerous,
those who won't simply be able to warp to a site, because they don't understand it (yes, i'm serious),
those who'll complain about belts being gone simply because they are gone ...

... now my brain hurts.

It kinda makes good sense now really, with the tags for sec system thats coming in and the reduced need for ratting for sec I think dropping all the belts to grav sites would be a great introduction now everything is set up

Their are but how many do we have in our solar system? Not saying its the same in each one but 1-20 a system? if your going for realism then you point is invalid

Rather because they do not appear from thin air, and mined they tend to dissapear. Or reduce size.

Also, because they're weird small semi-circles with rocks in close proximity, whereas the belt in our system is much more diffuse, and covers the whole system.

+1 for ring mining and grav sites.

Yeah because the fact that asteroids respawn is literally the only aspect of EVE to require a healthy suspension of disbelief in order to maintain the illusion of this perfectly realistic space simulator...

Asteroid belts, yes. Rock fields, no. The closest thing you get are planetary rings. The average distance between asteroids is measured in millions of kilometers — not the thousands of meters we have in EVE.

real asteroid belts have all the asteroids miles apart from each other.

Listen, if you don't like playing a Fantasy MMO, then maybe Eve isn't for you? ;-)
