As much as I like the trailer, for it to become a proper intro to EVE Online they'd have to remove the Dust parts. While Dust is part of the EVE Universe, it's not included in the MMO.

I'm fine with the current intro. It's brainy, moody and it focuses on the most important part of New Eden: the player. The old intro feels to much like a history lecture. Lore is fine but as an intro to a player-driven sandbox, it kinda missed the point.

It's free, shaddup

At first I thought you all where talking about the Caldari Prime vid, which I was gonna rage at since it was mostly Dust gameplay.

However the Origins one is nice and is pretty much the original intro but modernized, which is good. So yes.

Aye aye!

Looks far more 2013 to me.

Slight hijack, but can whoever did this please get commissioned to do some of the more vital lore (Jove for example in 30 seconds). Most of us have Reading to level II but Watching Videos Spec level V

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

That trailer was 3:46 of epicness. It NEEDS to be the EVE intro.

I'd make a recommendation thought, if it isn't too much trouble:

Swap the chick in the video with the player's character.

Imagine seeing your character "wake up" and then exit the station in his rookie ship.

That is too much trouble. The intro movie plays immediately after the account login is authenticated, before the character selection screen. A new player, who would be the intended audience, doesn't have a character at that point to use, and gets dumped into the character creator immediately after the intro movie (if enabled).

Not to mention that you'll never feasibly get the same level of shiny using a live rendering as would be required to include the player's character. Playing a pre-rendered video is much more efficient, and gives everyone better shiny, particularly those on low-end systems.

Hmm... Seems pretty unanimous.

Guess we'll have to get on that.

Kindly add the Jove in though, there are FIVE empires, not four.

That's probably the best EVE trailer to date. I'm going to have to say YES.

I'm assuming the reason CCP would do this isn't only because of the large support, but also because it's pretty small amount of work to make a lot of customers happy.

So i wouldn't get my hopes up for getting Jove included.

Regardless, i'm in favor about adding the new intro with or without Jove.

I like it but I can't help but feel it wasn't as good as the intro? (not the current one the original one).

While it was very similar to the first into it seems to gloss over and skip through a lot of the major storylines, we don't see the reasons behind the wars, or even the wars that preceded both the discovery of the Eve gate and space exploration from Earth. I quite liked the idea that the conflicts driving New Eden now are characteristic of the human race and echos of our past.

I guess it was a bit more limited by the time constraints and the need to advertise Eve and Dust as a trailer, however a good trailer doesn't necessarily make a good into to a game in my opinion.

TL;DR I'd rather we had the original Eve into, it told a better story.

Or, bear with me on this, they use this one but add more stuff so it's more in line with the original one Big smile

I think the trailer is a good intro to new eden in general. That said, I do not like that it implies Capsuleers are the same as Mercs. We use completely different technology, ours being much more capable. Its one thing to be able to transfer consciousness at death, quite another to have a brain powerful enough to control an entire star-ship with just thoughts.
