It's not exactly a broken system currently... We have a variety of longer and shorter, faster and slower guns and what you're suggesting is just more variations of the same. It really wouldn't add anything to tactical play or increase fun other than the initial "wow! look at that cool effect!". I don't see what this adds to the game other than yet another skill to train.

Indeed, the system is not broken. It is just somewhat flowed, and could use a new addition.

But Sorry, I totally disagree with you. If you add any kind of new modules with different traits, it WILL add new tactics to the game. Small changes makes Huge differences.

Take for example the plasma stream weapon. It can be used in mid range alpha fleets. a strategy that the artillery would not be that good, they are long range mostly.

Also it could be used along the artillery alpha fleets, assuming you deploy the gallente in front of the minmatar. You would now only need to time the volleys. This would allow a better Gallente+Minmatar fleet interaction.

The mass drivers are something between close range and mid range. This also add new tactics to the game. And I might say that if you make a mixed fleet Ammar+Caldari ( with each group having its logistics) this would add synergy to them.

And yes, the "wow! look at that cool effect!" is important, since this is a game and there are allot of players that judge the game on how it looks.

About the skills, it would take more then 20 years to have all skills at lvl5 so skills for 2 new weapons would not do such a difference. If you go in this line, CPP should stop developing new content for the game don't them?

I'm pretty sure that many caldari and gallente players would think that this weapons are interesting and would train for them. And CCP would have an better time balancing them then Hibrids.

I kind of like this idea.

Your goals may align with some ... and with others, collide with the force of suns.

I think this idea is awesome just because of how much sense it makes and how clearly it was explained. Regardless of how complex it might make a few things, this is a worthy idea.

+1'd.

To make more of a difference in the rails from the projectiles, May i suggest instead of the short range rail gun firing rapidly, it fires slower for a higher alpha at a short range.
