Hi all!

Inexperienced player here, I just came back to the game after a sizable break. I'm trying to create an overview profile for Looting in various situations. My question is: What are ALL of the "loot-able objects" (Wrecks, containers, etc) that i should add to the profile? Ones that I may want to "loot" from in any/all situations (PvP, PVE, etc.) There are so many types to choose from in the overview settings and i don't know what half of them are for.

Thanks for any help.

I just have one tab for looting/salvaging etc. It has all the containers, wrecks and everything I need on it. It's easier than switching tabs all the time for different looting.
Of course, on this tab I also have npc rats and capsuleer ships too so I can still see whats what on the overview as well as my looting.

Edit: Sorry, just to clarify, my overview has all the looting and salvaging things ticked for this tab. And its never really cluttered either unless I've run a mission like "The Blockade" and there a sh*t tonne of wrecks.
Overviews are about finding out what suits you best, what works for me might not work for others...

Hope this helps.

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

Containers, secure containers, and wrecks in Celestial category, and Overseer Container in NPC category, should pretty much cover it. The evelopedia seems to have an ok guide about the overview.

Categories contain:

Asteroid:
All sorts of asteroids. I usually turn these off and use a Survey Scanner module instead, as it gives how much is in each asteroid in addition to what asteroids are in the belt. But you could turn on, for example, Omber, to be able to do quick flyby's and see if any Omber is there.

Celestial:
All sorts of things that are in space, including planets, stations, the center beacon for asteroid belts, containers, wrecks.

Charge:
Bombs and scanner probes. You may want to have scanner probes enabled, so that when you use your directional scanner with the option to "use overview settings" to see if you're followed, it shows them.

Drone:
All sorts of player drones. You can see them in space if another player uses them, but this will enable them in the Overview so you can target them more easily. Could be useful, but it will also make it laggy if there's a gatecamp with drones out to trap players like you.

Entity:
This will contain most of the NPC ships, including mission ships, various police, customs, Concord ships. Most people have the missions NPC showing, but may turn off the police and Concord ships from the Overview. If you're running illegal drugs you may want Customs visible.

NPC:
I forget what this category has, but it's small so you can look.

Ship:
This contains most of the player ships, from capsules and shuttles to titans. Most people have them ALL on, but there are several large fleet setups where you'd want to turn off ships that you're not going to be targeting or repairing (that won't be your job to deal with), to reduce lag during 800 vs. 800 ship battles.

Sov. Structures:
This has the 0.0 sovereignty structures that large alliances have to install or shoot down when they conquer or defend territory.

Structure:
Any other structure in space, from POS towers and all the other POS modules (ship maintenance arrays, refineries, etc) to, I think, some mission-related NPC structures that may or may not be destroyable. If you have a probing and scanning overview tab, you may want to include POS towers, forcefield, and warp scramble batteries. There are a lot of abandoned towers in high-sec space (you'll just see the tower), and there are some live ones (you'll see an active forcefield) and some dangerous ones (warp scramble batteries will keep you there to be shot at if you get near).
