Alex Cox ("Sid & Nancy" "Repo Man" "Straight to Hell") is finally directing Bill the Galactic Hero from Harry Harrison's book.

Sci-Fi Comedy is still a very hard genre to master (see "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy") but it can be done (see "Galaxy Quest" "Sleeper").

I shall look forwards to this.

And HHGTG was an alright movie, you just had to get the humour.

The book is fun...the film comes across as really clumsy and rushed....weird with it's 20 year development stage. That's just my opinion.

I actually enjoyed the Dirk Gently books even more.

Loved "Repo Man."
Love "Bill: TGH."

Very much hope there's synergy here. Would be a very sad puppy if this doesn't work well.

Edit:
HHGTTG is a hard one to adapt. I consider the movie to be a decent stab at it - not a homerun by any stretch of the imagination, but maybe a stand-up triple. The Planet of Bureaucrats was particularly well done, IMO - And I understand that the 'whackers' were an original add-in by the screenwriters: well played.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Yes, the production design was spot on, but for some reason the film does not feel 'confident' about itself, or something.
