Out of Pod Experience

So, how are you? It's been a while since you and I looked at each other. Face to face. Things have changed, our opinions, interests and ideas have moved on, or themselves been morphed and changed by the experiences we have endured. We aren't who we once were, but we are now, stronger or wiser for it.

But we've also become distant. Alas, long gone are the days where in a moment of boredom, we would start a thread entitled "You laugh, you lose" and post random, if entertaining snippets of news or images of felines, canines or some other form of household animal or otherwise, caught in a snapshot of time where it would forever provide laughs for those lucky enough to see it.

But these are no longer the days. For we are a distanced community, we are worn down thanks to years of bitterly accepting sub-par grammar and/or spelling, duplicate threads, or irrelevant threads which are long overdue retirement. I, moreso than most I would argue, miss what Out of Pod Experience once was.

You can argue left and right that due to stricter rules, and a "better" forum software, the ability for us to lift /OOPE/ to greatness again has never been stronger, but I would argue a counter. Out of Pod was, during my personal posting peak, where I came for not-quite-IM levels of back and forth, a place to get occasional news, but dominantly a place to mingle with people who shared my hobby, and, occasionally, my interests.

So, in an effort to dispel my melancholia, I'm going to try to help rekindle that old flame I used to share with those of you who remain.

Consider this my way of saying, "I remember every last one of you, whether or not I was trolling you or supporting you. Whether or not I agree with you, or vehemently opposed you. You were all magnificent, and we should see each other more."

Also, if moderators read this, (And I know you will, as I'm pretty sure by now my name showing up on the forums throws up so many red flags for review-this-now you could use my posts to operate the disco lights as fanfest) please consider reviewing your stance on the various Avatar/Like threads. Pretty, pretty please? They can't just exist forever in Limbo, especially not in OOPE.

We're talking about the moderators sweeping all those avatar above you threads into our domain. While avatars may be out of the pod they are still in game and that makes them Eve related. Those threads either need to go back to GD or be locked.

You might be higher ranking on the all time spectrum, but look at that pathetic OOPE rating. 3.8K at 35%. You aint got nothin on my 7.2K Big 7-7. /flex Gonna have to spend more time with my mistress before you can take her away from me.

Nope, I created IG OOPE because the people asked for an in game channel when you weren't around.

To the OP: So I understand that the old, exiled silverback and former pack leader is coming back to his people after several years and is surprised that the new lion king has taken over and killed all his puppies? It's nature, the circle of life, deal with it.
Since you were referring to chan-culture terms several times in your OP, am I right to assume that you come from this background?
And that you are now bitching about the cancer that is killing /b/ ?
And yet you were mentioning YLYL (you laugh you lose) threads as the pinnacle of achievements in this forum, although you should know that these threads have always been considered concentrated cancer cells.
But, as always, there is a deeper, almost philosophical meaning behind those threads. Because you really lose if you laugh- because it means that you are still laughing at stupid old memes and ancient copypasta instead of providing valuable OC for the community.
Also, as a former alpha wolf of the forums, you should know that the cancer is a vital part of the greater good. For every awesome and fun thread, there will be at least 10 abysmal "rate my c*ck / rate my avatar /rate my XXX" threads. They act as a vent, keep newfags distracted and are easily spotted and ignored by posters with a little experience so that they can concentrate on the relevant threads.

If you want to seize control of your pack again, I suggest you fight for it.

YLYL threads were better back in the day because we were actually able to directly post pictures into the threads. For some reason the devs would remove most pictures from threads and ask us not to use that option but the YLYL thread was always the exception.
