Ice fields have been removed from Hi Sec before... you can either believe that history might repeat itself or you can look up CCP Soundwaves recent comments on the issue.

Or not.

Never, ever have I heard about that happening. They were removed from 1.0 - .8 systems and that's it.

Last I checked, 1.0 to 0.8 is still part of High Sec...

to be fair, that original quote does imply all of high sec...

Sure, it could be read that way. Blink

That out of the way I highly doubt that CCP would go and remove ice from hi sec. They would lose all these guys mining with 10+ accounts - or if not lose then they would downscale their operations to the level thats manageable on ore. Over all of eve population probably few thousand accounts I would speculate.

This.

It would not surprise me if these "some russians" wold walk away with good amount of isk before this thing collapses.

I would assume that by now CCP has learned their lesson about overnight radical changes to the game without any prior communication or listening to feedback right after fanfest without uttering a word about planned changes during the fanfest. Like happened couple of years back with the great null sec anomaly nerf. We both know how well that turned out. As far as I have seen EVE is atm sort of getting back where it was before that hicup. It was not their sole problem back then but as far as I could see, at that time, it was the last straw back then, the turning point. Underlying point was communication ofc - and considering the long list of stickies in features & ideas I would say CCP has learned their lesson pretty decently.

If they will remove Ice or Lev 4 missions or static ore belts from hi sec I'm quite certain we would have threadnaught going on in features & ideas by now. Considering far smaller changes have deserved their stickies in there.

Atm all we have is "some russians" saying that in the non-public test server there is no hi sec ice belts. Right.

Not that I'm complaining about the ice prices. I exited yesterday and made approx 1 bil out of this. Not much in the grand scale of things, but I'm a small fish in the the EVE market. It is possible that the upward trend can keep up for a little bit more but when the rush for exit happens it is better to be already out in my opinion.

Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... THWONK! GOT the bastard.

apparently the same changes went up on duality, although i haven't confirmed this personally.

So how many people are going to disappear from this thread when the ice mining change gets announced in a couple hours?

considering this is the first post in this thread for days, i'd say they've already left.

I dumped last snippets I had into buy orders in Jita this morning and it already smelled like there is light rush towards exit. I must admit that this photoshopped image people were circulating earlier was pretty clever. I would guess someone found himself a bit late for the exit and tried to squeeze one last surge out of it to cut his losses.

BTW I must say that I have not yet watched that presentation.

Cliff's notes from the keynote:

-Ice is being moved to anomalies.
-Ore mineral yields are being rebalanced.
-Outpost industrial slot counts being buffed.

They will be dropping dev blogs shortly with actual numbers.

My rough notes from the keynote:

Ice belts move into anomalies, will spawn in systems that previously had ice belts. Can be mined out, when they are they’ll respawn 4 hours later.

Wonder if I can get my fuel sold before everyone gets the news, bought the ice before the spike started :-)

unless ice depletes SIGNIFICANTLY faster, that 4hr respawn will mean nothing. warping to a different location is also completely irrelevant. i'm not sure that'll stop bots.

It seems safe to assume that it's implied that ice will deplete significantly faster, because otherwise - like you said - it would be meaningless.

We are now in the final days of the existence of Ice Bots \0/

Presentation was so full of WIN.

The ones I was finding that were perma-mining for 23/7 are now gonna be SOOL.

Not... not really. I mean, I agree on the last part, overall, I liked the presentation - but this change to ice belts is something a bot would give zero ****s about, and I seriously doubt that's the problem they're trying to address with this change.
