Oh same.

Just its annoying. I have no doubt that folks here have no more intel than say the British or the Canadians, who undoubtedly been putting their earth to the ground to try find out anything. And if they are Chechen I'm sure calls are being made to Moscow as we speak to see what they can dig up.

Just heard on the radio that the older brother was enrolled in Bunker Hill Community College to study to be an engineer, and had apparently complained about unable to make American friends.

If true, this is looking more like Columbine with more explosives :/

I'll never get that kind of thinking.

No one will be my friends so i will kill everyone!

Kind of self defeating.

What I find odd is that 4chan had it nailed in the first few hours. Seriously I was on the threads and it was picked apart thoroughly, and that's one of the guys identified.

Now I get to watch as the conspiracy theorists who were analyzing this one in real time, get it right and see the law enforcement follow it. If they realize that if this happened a week ago, they would be finding every excuse under the sun why it couldn't be them.

WHDH is giving different names than what was previously announced.

Have been listening to BBC World News Hour on the way to work this AM.
They spoke with the boys' uncle, who characterized the older suspect as a 'loser' - a dropout who was doing a whole lot of not much, despite having much potential. BBC's Russia Desk has spoken with the boy's father, who seems to have a lot of difficulty connecting teh younger boy to events in his mind. Apparently the younger brother was expected to be a real star. Both boys were into martial arts; wrestling and some form of Asian martial art. The younger is reported to have had a scholarship in wrestling.

Other stories on the BBC include one about the man seen being hustled off in a wheelchair, both legs with rough dressings on; He lost both legs, but when he woke after surgery, he managed to request a pen and paper, wrote out an accurate description of one of the suspects. This was before the pictures had been released - and handed the description off to an FBI agent.

Increasingly, the 'Columbine' angle seems to be accurate.

So........FBI, Police, National Guard etc. have proven that a major American Metropolitan Area can indeed be on utter lockdown.

Interesting...........

Thing is Boston news said that one of them was pretty popular and had many friends, they even interviews one of the friends.

Its hard to get a real picture with so many conflicting stories.

Just because 4chan is 4chan, doesn't mean it's bereft of intelligence. Indeed, it takes some pretty smart people to make 4chan the festering cesspit that it is; That kind of villainy takes brains.

By the way; that leads credence to the concept of 'betting pools on terror' that the previous Administration had attempted to set up - a community is smarter than it realizes, and given a venue like a betting pool, will assess the odds quite accurately. A similar process is used in search and rescue efforts, and works quite well. The concept was ridiculed out of operation last time, but I'm willing to bet it rises again (and that no credit will be given to the previous admin for having tried it).

Meanwhile, my company's offices in Waltham and Westborough have been shut down due to the manhunt lockdown - my workday is gimped by events 400 miles away.

That would likely be the younger brother, based on stories I've heard.

With time, truth will surface and it will backup not less than five opposing and mutually incompatible political reads. Man-made tragedies often are bound to end up being of use to someone's Cause...

Takes a HUGE effort, and cannot last - soon, basic survival needs will force the lifting of the lockdown. Still a disquieting lesson.

Well WHDH is talking about the surviving suspect an aspiring medical student from AP.

Seems a lot of information is coming out of Russia now. Daddy has nothing but praise for his boys. "Theyre my angels"

Honestly, if I had done something like this, my family would have disavowed any knowledge of me.

That does sound likely if they are acting independently with no help from outside sources. They wont have planned ahead and are panicked. They probably thought they were geniuses, and thought that the USA was a soft target like a lot of these groups think.... right until your door is kicked in and they realise how fast everything can change.

Attacking the US is like kicking a tarbaby. Easy enough to do, and it looks like you've dones something significant, but then you realize you've done not much damage, and are now thoroughly stuck and can't escape.

Maybe we should teach B'rer Rabbit to more folks, and draw the links a bit more clearly...

That's pretty much the approach the Uncle took - Shocked, and cutting them dead. The Uncle is in the US somewhere, I understand, whilst the father is in Dagastan, and is apparently rather out-of-contact. Also still seems to be having one hell of a hard time connecting his children to events. Which is understandible enough.

Too bad "Song of the South" has been banned in the US for decades. I was lucky enough to see it at a drive-in in 1974 re-release.

I've now heard 3 call-in conversations NBC has had with people who went to high school with the younger guy, and he just does not fit the loner profile at all. Very outgoing and social guy. All his former classmates are in complete shock.
