I'm ADD with training.

This picture essentially sums up the situation now.

I've always been, from the start, slightly ADD with my training and, as such, have never really used any of the skill planners nor remaps to maximise training. With the exception of Charisma, my attributes are sitting at 24/23 with +3 implants because I'm too cheap to buy +4/+5 and too lazy to train Cybernetics further even though it'd be really really useful down the line.

More often then not, I'll find out about some interesting new skill and quickly train it to level 2/3 taking a few hours out of my longer skills in my current "plan." (Plan refers to just generalness. i.e "become more armour tanky" or "fly Amarr ships better" or "Get more capacitor etc.")

And, recently, I returned to doing missions because why not. Doing level 2's in an Oracle was not that fun (Or doing missions in General with it) and, since I was too lazy to go to Jita from Amarr space to get into my Harbinger, I was forced to fit medium turrets on it. After a day of doing 2's and into threes, I've kept about 3 of those medium turrets just to be able to hit some of the smaller frigates. But then I tried the Drake on the test server and fell in love with what I should've done from the beggining. Caldari and missiles.

Can I get a reccomendation for going into a Tengu or should I just abandon this "plan" (From which I will inevitably deviate) and try to get into a Legion or better equip myself for the Oracle?

The Attack Battlecruisers (i.e. soon-to-be-formerly Tier 3) aren't really efficient for missioning. They're designed to shoot at larger targets, but don't have the tank to stand up to the higher-level missions where their favored targets live. So you might want to put the Oracle aside for that.

I don't have any direct experience with Caldari, but Tengu is certainly capable of missioning. If you're looking to take it to L4, you'll probably want to work into a Battleship, though. Tengus can certainly do L4s (and are great for blitzing, from what I hear), but most missions are about damage output, and T3 cruisers just can't match the raw damage and projection of battleships.

That said, if missions are just a side-project and you don't have any other use for Battleships, a Tengu could be a good thing to go toward, as they're pretty versatile. Command Ships are also pretty popular for non-BS missioning, I think.

Missioning! is the key word here.
Drake, Tengu, Raven, etc will all be better ships for missions.

In general, I think that Amarr hulls are the worst mission ships. Not that it can't be done, but other races are far more popular (for good reasons)

+1 for your img post :)
imo, combat skills are never a waste, but when you find a ship you REALLY like, focus on maxing skills for THAT ship.

Attack BCs are perfectly capable of missioning, naga and oracle are especially good at it.

Catch is that you actually have to fit large guns on them and fight at range, not medium guns like the OP was doing.

As for missiles: they are certainly the easiest weapon system to use against rats, you don't have to micromanage them like drones and you're immune to tracking disruption and can still hit things very close to you.

Tengu won't be the best for anything, however it will do everything at a pretty nice pace. It's a very versatile ship. If you want to specialise in mission running with missiles you'll probably want to take a look at a CN raven at some point.

I still really didn't want to put medium guns on it. As I soon found out, "Oh yeah, I don't have the CPU to fit all medium lasors because I get no bonuses to it. Yay me." For level 3's I have only 3 of them, but still. I wouldn't think getting out of range and sniping at them is an option, though. Am I able to do that well with 200 m/s base and ~950 with a MWD?

Usually mission pockets won't aggro unless you shoot something or if they do aggro there will be a delay before they do it.

An oracle should quite easily be able to fly 1500m/s even with bare minimum skills so you can get some distance before you start shooting.

But you really do need large guns for this to work.

And Shield Extenders in the "lows"? Because you can drag and drop modules in the HUD to wherever you like? Smile

As a L4 mission runner, I can say the Tengu is damn good, I personally find it waaaay quicker than a Raven for missioning, and no need to micro drones :D

T2 launchers, BCU II in the lows, big AB and shields in the mids. You'll be so fast most of the incoming fire will just graze you, or miss altogether. I use a Target Painter as well for faster frigate killing.

However a note of caution, Tengu defenses are pretty flaky if you're not speeding along, and webbers are an absolute must to kill on sight. Webbed vs a room of enemies, you're going down quick. Attention

Using BS hulls is way more AFK friendly, and probably a bit quicker, but the Tengu is lots more fun :)

I usually go weapons on top, activatables on mid, and passives on low. I just hadn't switched it down to the bottom in this picture because it wasn't important.
