I have been super impressed with the way CCP's been running and balancing and working on EVE this past year. I don't know how much of that credit rightfully goes to Unifex, but I'm sure he deserves a lot of it!

Big shoes to fill indeed. Good luck.

If you're on a mobile and playing Farmville you're doing it very, very, very wrong. Go download Hay Day.

You're welcome.

Thanks unifex for all your hard work, looking forward to your future contributions Big smile

I have every confidence that eve will continue in a positive direction as long as Hilmar is CEO. He may have learnt some lessons over the years but it's clear to me he knows what is good for ccp and for eve.

Hey Unifex,

First, let me thank you for the fantastic job you have done for Eve Online. You've done amazing things for us for as long as I've known you were working at CCP, and I have no doubt that you'll continue to do amazing things. I have every confidence in CCP's mobile plans with you at the helm and with your team backing you - but good luck nonetheless.

I guess I'll see you in the app stores. >:-)

Well, i won't be making any conclusions about the company and how good the latest expansions are for the community...
But for me personally, those were almost nothing and boring, sorry guys Oops. Although some small things are nice... So i'll wait and see a couple of next expansions...

in 2007 i've thought it's a sci-fi simulator, not an "e-sports" game. I'm not a teenager, how would i like it much?

Excellent job last couple years. I do hope things don't slide once you leave. Also intimate eve knowledge should be a must . Hmmm I have just the person in mind. Formerly known as CCP Abathar.

What I read:

"For our next Executive Producer, we'll be looking for someone who has no frakking idea of what the hell CCP/Eve Online/Dust 514 is so that we can dedicate all of our time to answering their questions."

Bad move.

Jon Lander did an amazing job in this position, while it's good that he's moving to the mobile strategy - it's a bad move imo. This game (for the first time in years) was on the right track under his supervision.

as long as sentient beings exist,

until then, may I too remain

I'm not sure why you aren't promoting (yes I know) one of your current employers to be executive instead of hiring a new person for that position

Thanks anyway, been a few very solid years.

CCP Unifex: Looks like mission accomplished! I give you an A for the excellent work you've done. I hope you will enjoy your new position and be just as successful with it.

Best wishes!

Excellent work during time in post. Not happy to see him go. The last few expansions have been a major direction change and provided so much needed polishing, bug-stomping, and smoothing out of game systems.

Only going to be happy if the next guy continues all of the above, plus new fun stuff.

Noooooo.
Don't go CCP Unifex. We will give you hakarl and beer if you come back. CCP Seagull will probably rename our awesome magnetometric sites to some sucky relic sites. So please don't go.Sad

You have done great things Jon, so thank you and good luck.

You better still come to the London meet ups, Luna will also be there, she'll probably want you to sign her boobs again.

I hope new exec will reanimate development of WiS. I'll pay $49 for this expansion even if it will be as minuscule as walking in stations to access quest givers and market terminals + chat bubbles above other players' toons + station windows to see ships around.

I think is a wise move. Many leaders have a set of vision, creativity, and perspective when they lead a group. They are able to view things differently than the next.

From what I saw Unifex was a Logical person who saw , quality, solidify code efficiency (code Re write), framework. Which eve really needed at the time.

The next person will come to the position with different history, and will see other opportunities. and be able to apply their strengths, to build a synergy on what Unifex's leadership built. BUT.... Hilmar and CCP Eve Crew must make sure this new leadership, if changing any of the previous work of Unifex is done to improve the game,

I hope the person is a person that is able to see able to see eve's successful niche's (eves unique balance of risk/vs reward balance) and explore those forcefully, while placing secondary effort of the areas where their competitor have, (WOT non- LOS artillery tanks),
But not a person who is going to think that Uber graphics, and being leading edge is the way to go. Who thinks that being the BEST is the only way.

In marketing it is important to stand out from the crowd, and being the best takes the least brain power but takes the most effort, time and money. Though focusing on the asset of of brain power and being different, every dollar and every hour spent will be worth 10 fold.

Incarna was the idea of being the best in avatar technology, and begin to conform to the mainstream mediocrity ideals that all games will need to Micro Transactions.

Inferno to odyssey was back to the roots that made eve different, and cleaning up the mess of being the best, or simply "lock out" an option till cheep technology could catch up and resources become available. Going back to the sand box and cutting resources from most theme park content built by devs, (though live events seems like an anomaly to me, but that may have secondary benefits to stir up universe and to have some player evangelically promote that they were there)

From X to Y I hope it is continuing to build on the unique ideas:
-Players cause the universe to change, NPC political landscape will change for the long term if a sustained effort is made, Yes make it possible that in a 5 years time the Caldari can wipe out the Gellente, only to have another new sect of Caldari to form to fight the old.
-The universe is to always to explored - resources change everywhere but at varying speeds - except regular asteroid belts.
-->Player some structures that are easier to abandon/ destroy than to recycle. so new players can discover the remnants of old Alliances assets.

Sadly I only have an extremely limited insight to the inner workings of eve. And what I say is a guess and often may counter what I have said in the past, as new information has come to light.

I look forward to see the new ideals and stuff coming from fan fest. I hope his Unifexes delve into moble CCP applications work, as I know I phones and Tables are flooding the market. In fact I have both even after saying I would never use one.... bah I am now programming a data base program for the table.

I just hope that CCP holds onto Uniflex long term, knowing he is on staff some where, makes me happy so that if things start going south, some one proven can come in and clean up the mess in a logical way.

Someday I will have the time to play. For now it is mining afk in High sec. In Cheap ships

SIR UNIFEX (Royalty Implied)—

As one of the serfs of New Eden and a solo player I would like to say thank you for the sanity that you brought to this game of egos and insanely self centered players. Your mater-of-fact … this is how its going to be delivery style... will be what I doubt can be replaced.

Here is wishing you the best of luck and success at whatever direction you find yourself taking.

If life and luck should allow our paths to cross in Real Life, I will very happily buy you many beers while we exchange views on the game of EVE.

CCP's sand box is EVE Online.  The sand is owned by CCP.  We pay them a monthly fee to throw the sand at each other.  That is all that is here, so move along. Nothing more to be seen.

I'm not worried. A key part of the last year and a bit has been making sure that EVE doesn't rely on a single person. Now we have a great team leading up development in CCP Seagul and CCP Ripley along with all the other devs who have been around for ages (and some rather spiffy new devs Big smile ). I have every faith in these people to carry on doing amazing things and I know we will only put in a great person into the EP role.

Point taken, an excellent team has been built, and you have done a magnificent job. I felt more relaxed about the future of this game than I can remember after the first time I understood what your view point and goals were.

I'll be frank, it's going to be hard to find someone for your position that will inspire the same amount of confidence (absolutely no disrespect intended for the other members of your team). CCP's choice of replacement is going to be critical... I don't envy the person that will step in as they will have pretty big shoes to fill. Not to mention the fact that most of us genuinely like you, and more importantly agreed with your priorities and methodology.

As for who cares about a promotion... well, where you're concerned I think we all do. But if working on EvE's mobile efforts is what you want, I wish you the very best of luck. It is good to know for certain that at least that aspect of the game will be in very competent hands. I just hope you will retain some influence in the selection of your replacement.

Good luck in your new position Jon!

True. This game need some really new things, like WiS. And i think they're still capable enough to do it without turning it into the "jumping teenagers" nightmare.
