Well, if you were handy with hardware. I'd say you should open the laptop up and see if hair has formed a "Hair Filter" around the vents. (no amount of compressed air will remove that)

Some other things to try is:

-Asking EVE to determine the best settings for 'performance'.

-See if you have the KB installed mentioned here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/msrc/archive/2013/04/11/kb2839011-released-to-address-security-bulletin-update-issue.aspx

-Run Windows' 'Reliability Monitor'. See if anything has recently failed (red X) or unsuccessfully installed (Yellow triangle with a '!')

-Perform a clean install of the GRAPHIC DRIVER (bolding so you don't do misread)
Clean Install of Graphic Driver:

Get: Driver Sweeper (aka Driver Fusion; free version works fine)

1) Add or Remove Programs -> uninstall in this order:
-HD Audio / 3D Vision / PhysX (any order doesn't matter)

-reboot even if it doesn't ask for it-

-Uninstall the graphic driver

-reboot-

*Windows will now install the driver it was shipped with, that's fine

2) Reboot again but this time go into safe mode; should be F8 key at POST

3) Run Driver Fusion and tell it to analysis for Nvidia Display and Physx

-reboot-

4) Windows will once again install the stock drivers it was shipped with, but you'll have gotten rid of any orphan files left behind during updates.

5) Install the latest Nvidia Drivers

One other thing to do is get the MSI Afterburner -or- EVGA Precision. And setup custom fan profiles. Nvidia intentionally down-clocks the Fan Duty Cycle to provide a quieter environment. That means the GPU has to reach about 80C before the fan even goes up to 60% duty cycle.....my fan is running at that right now at 60C.
