I got scammed in a trade window... guy was selling me a navy raven and I went to go scam him because the idiot was doing a trading window.

Payed 1.5m isk for a navy raven and ended up with a crappy regular raven Evil

Closest I got was a guy that asked for help completing a mission in the high sec system next to where we were. We fleeted up and he fleet warped to gate and told me to jump on contact.

Problem was, it was the neighboring low sec system he warped me to the gate to, not the neighboring high sec system he had said the mission was in.

When I dropped fleet and warped off, without jumping to low sec in my PVE BS, he convo'ed me and was all like.. I thought you were going to help. And I was all like, you said it was high sec. Then he said It is high sec... then I said, no it's not and posted a link to the system show info. Then he's all like, oh it's in the high sec system 2 jumps past that low sec system.

So I copied the original message where he claimed it was in a different system, Then I blocked him and closed chat and never heard from him again.

It cost me about 1 minute of play time.

I actually got a nice reversal one time. Typical CNR trade window scam. 400 mil? sounds like a great deal says I. He plopped in the renamed raven and I offered up the 400,000. Before I could do anything he screwed himself. Had a good laugh on that one...

Never been scammed. Scams are easy to spot.
Never been stolen from. As a rule I usually don't put my assets at risk.

Never scammed.
Never stole.

I'm honorable, even though everyone says its useless.

I got 'recruitment scammed' by someone who basically lured me into a trap and killed me. We still talk because I was cool with it (my response was well you can at least pod express me home so I don't need to slow boat it). Otherwise I've never lost any liquid isk or assets in a scam. Most of them are pretty easy to spot especially if you follow the 'if it sounds too good to be true then it must be' rule.

When I was a nubbin I fell for the "double your ISK" scam. He got 50 mil out of me. I moved on but never forgot his name. And never fell for another scam after that.

Two years later I was talking with some guys and a "familiar name" was mentioned as being someone's alt... and how said alt scammed a lot of people. After some prodding I got the person's main character name... tracked him down... and smartbombed his frigate and pod as he was warping to a gate. Twisted

To say he was surprised was an understatement. He gave me kudos and we went back to our lives.

When I was only a few weeks into the game a guy in a Proteus jumped into my exploration site and stole my stuff, going flashy. I was in an Incursus and really had to restrain myself from shooting at him, but I did. We talked for a while and he was complimenting me on being so smart, and then offered me some stuff to help me out. He dropped like 6 Retriever BPC's in a can outside my main station near Dodi. He said go ahead and take them, that's how you trade stuff in Eve. I knew that something was up, but I also knew I wanted those BPC's (I checked the can before docking up again). So I played along while I reshipped to the tankiest thing I had in the hangar. I think I told him he he to warp away before I would accept his gift. Undocked, watched him leave, opened the can, took the goods, and of course in warps the prot, which starts shooting at me. I burn like hell back for the station and dock in like half armor. For me back then, I was space rich. That was the only time I've ever been (attempted) scammed. Still have those BPC's - minus a few I made money on before the barge buff - as a reminder of the truth of Eve.

Once, for 2 bil. It was a good lesson on not playing eve massively sleep-deprived. Wasn't even a particularly clever scam at that. Definitely a facepalm moment. Sent the guy a "Welp...can't believe I fell for that..." kind of message. All the scams I dodged in eve and I stepped right in an obvious one... Lesson learned.

I subbed EVE, $15/month.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Twice. Lol

- A PLEX contract (too good to be true, hence it was) that gave me a cheap PLEX for 430mil and also took another PLEX out of my hangar.

- Another contract for 30 mil for a faction shield that cost me 300 mil.
Funny thing with that one was I tried to scam my 300 mil. back, forgot to check my zero's and sold it for 30 mil, probably to the same guy who scammed me in the first place.UghP

Wait, that's a scam? I thought Jita was just filled with REALLY nice guys who were leaving the game and wanted to give back to the community. Damn, now that I know this, the world is now a darker place....

Blink

I mentioned the one I fell for, but i've survived many attempts, like the classic "I'll see you this thing cheap, here, let me contract this to you". Then you look at the contract and it says "You will pay" with the exact same thing your are buying lol. I even asked him in the private convo if that ever works, and he said "I make a living off it" lol.

Once, I bought some cheap deadspace mod for 40mil, thought I remembered the price was about right, but I actually paid 20mil too much.

I put it on contracts for 90mil, spammed Dodi every now and then and it sold during the same evening.

Closest I ever came to being scammed was in an asteroid belt in highsec when I was still pretty new to Eve.

Someone asked for help with rats in local chat, so I warped my rifter to the belt and saw nothing but a jetcan. Being an enterprising opportunist, I flipped the can and waited for the miner to reappear. Instead an Arazu decloaked and had me for a light snack. I'd never seen an Arazu before, so burning away from him seemed a good option, as he was well out of point range... or so I thought... :)

I've always liked Arazus after that.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Occasionally I undercut/outbid my own alts.

Then later I'll be playing on my alt and I'll purchase my own stuff to find out whose undercutting me.

Not exactly a scam, but it does cause me personal loss (taxes and time), so it seemed like as good of a place for it as any.

0.01-ISKing yourself is priceless feeling

I've also bought stuff from myself and smiled because it was so cheap

Once.
The Quafe Zero/Quafe Ultra scam. Fortunately, it only cost me 6 million ISK, a pretty cheap lesson.
