"What is this website?!" I hear you asking.

To find out more, please read the new dev blog by CCP Zulu and then give us your feedback right here in this thread.

Enjoy!

It sounds Interesting, the whole community work, and the players history... but I would like to see the eve development in this https://code.google.com/p/gource/ this would look EPIC, one of the most complex games code of the world visualized by everyone in a colorful animation with all devs and all that they have done!!!! Much like seeing the scale of the universe... http://htwins.net/scale2/ but in a EVE development perspective...

I think you could add zoom for "capsuleer time"
then have various color lines appear for capsuleer alliances that breach certain number of players and/or sov (or just make it arbitrary, or base it on alliances own/their enemies history submissions?)

Naturally first destroyed titan must be there
The great battles of eve must be there, starting from C-J defense that ultimately resulted in LV (one of the bigger ally of the time) getting defeated,
including fall of fortress delve,
ll of long standing Northern coalition,
then hellcamp of 6vdt
and pretty much all the things I do not have time to mention.
Maybe base it on evelopedia articles that would get some "tag" that includes/offers to include it into timeline, to faciliate community submissions?

Ya know, it'd be nice if you guys (CCP), made each pilot a timeline that grabbed all his information (already in eve), and organised it into a EVE- line with all events. Basically a personal line that marked when you started flying, when you killed someone, you joineda corp, etc, and made it visible to himself wit hthe option of showing it publically. That'd be a great way of telling someon's story, especially if it was interactive, like a slider bar with text pop ups.

I like it, but i think its too quiet. It would be much more awesome to scroll through the eve story while listening to the eve music. I just opened https://soundcloud.com/ccpgames/sets/eve-online-in-game-tracks in another window and now im completely convinced it would be great to have a music player embedded directly on the timeline page Smile

Am I missing something here? I click the links in the devblog, even type in just eve.com ... and what happens scares the hell out of me. First it just loads a page with nothing on it. When I try loading it again, it redirects me to a bunch of other, UNRELATED websites, like TurboTax, one to a survey, and a bunch of other redirects. So this is either a really really late April Fools joke, CCP got hacked, or CCP just plain is screwing with me.

What did I miss?

Quick! Someone should add the dates when CCP Zulu proposed the changes to moms (that made him lay low for like months on end) and when CCP Zulu laid this little pile of gold:

People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50? What do other people think about you when they see you wearing them? For some you will look like the sad culmination of vainness while others will admire you and think you are the coolest thing since sliced bread. Whichever it is, it is clear that by wearing clothes you are expressing yourself and that the price is one of the many dimensions that clothes possess to do that in addition to style and fit. You don't need to buy expensive clothes. In fact you don't need to buy any clothes. Whatever you choose to do reflects what you are and what you want others to think you are.

We will gradually introduce items at other price points, definitely lower and probably higher than what‘s in the store today. We hope you enjoy them and are as passionate about them as you are of the current items that are for sale.

What you guys really need to do is to take all the stuff that made EvE what it is today and that means stuff that has been created by the community - wars, competitions, player run alliances and corporations, huge battles, small but important battles, scams, tales of treachery, tales of friendship, epic market manipulations, famous pirates, famous entrepreneurs etc - and to intervene it with your storyline.

Nobody really cares about some generic made up Emperor. What we really want to see is how WE influenced EvE universe world over the years.

You didn't actually read the devblog did you?

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Wasn't there some huge corp thefts years ago (before Bad Bobby) that made the news in several gaming sites? I think those events could be mentioned in the timeline.

How about the recent miss-click -event that caused huge battle in low sec? Wasn't it half trillion lost in ships or something just because of that simple mistake?

The one that really stands out for me is the Ubiqua Seraph heist that the gaming press (unheard of before) picked up

I would love to see something about Admiral Yakiya Tovil-Toba and what he did in the Gallente-Caldari War to buy time so people could get off Caldari Prime. I know a few years ago a fan made a video telling the story of what he did. It can be found here:

Probably already mentioned, but for what it's worth, there needs to be some more events on the timeline.

For example you have the beginning of the Sansha Incursions, but what about the first Sansha war ? What about the Destruction of Yulia ? Formation of some of the Pirate groups, etc.

I just feel there could be a lot more added, without making the timeline tooo much listing everything..

Also would be nice to see some move videos made for the slides.. Wouldn't mind seeing the Amarr get routed by the Jove for one :) Or the Battle of Caldari Prime with more focus on the "Eve" part..

This is fantastic, a blessing for RPers Old and New.

I would suggest one change however. BC and AD are antiquated terms, It would be best to use BCE and CE as the terms for timeline dates.

BCE (Before the Common Era)
CE (Common Era)

Thank you very much for the time and effort that went into this project. o7

Some important dates by my recollection (warning, my memory is shoddy. Fill in the blanks with correct info):

The mad-cow or whatever CCP tanking event.

The creation of hisecurity space.

The destruction of the highway gates, and Jita's birth as the central trade hub.

The creation of the first Titan.

The fall of the first Titan.

The fall of BOB.

The Incarna rebellion (yeah, it happened, and it was big).

That theft that got into Time magazine.

The largest fleet fight to date.

The original Hulkageddon.

The Bank scheme that turned out badly.

The original Burn Jita.

These are a few of my 'remember when' conversation topics. Figured they would be nice to see.

If you're driven to threaten others with harm or violence because of what they do in game, you can't separate fantasy from reality. That "griefer/thief" is probably more sane than you are. How screwed up is that?

One idea for the gap during the dark ages, didn't the Jove have some pretty significant events in there? Several sudden collapses due to the Jovian disease? Other than their contact with the empires I see very little Jove in there. And yes, I do realize they are supposed to be "mysterious" but there is lore out there for them that I don't see in the timeline.

Also plenty of other events. While I am very interested in the player events, it would be a shame to shirk the creative work done by your lore team (or whatever you guys call them).

Thank you CCP for that new and brilliant tool that you provide to the lovers of historic knowledge.
The capsuleer community definitely will help as always the development and enrichment of the timeline whenever is that possible with new historic and archaeological fιndings from all over New Eden and Anoikis.
The project is big and the need for more accurate and detailed knowledge bigger.

Lets try to enlight the dark years and find the lost parts of history
