Well, two days overdue now. So much for the rapture. Now, back to real issues at hand.

Well there is the upcoming december 21st 2012 doomsday prediction and this one has some interesting facts, such as both the mayan and chinese calendars being several thousand years old each and both of them don't extend beyond december 21st 2012....

Then there's the whole planetary alignment with the center of our galaxy, and how our own solar system will go from the northern hemisphere of the galaxy to the soulthern hemisphere, wich is something that only happends every 26 000 years...Question

Methinks the Mayans and Chinese just ran out of room so they stopped doing the calendars.

For me it's mostly that the calendars are spot on with regards to planetary movement rate, relative alignment between the planets and even the whole solar system moving to to the soulthern hemisphere, wich only happends once every 26000 years, so it's before the creation of any known calendar or even religious belief for that matter, and requires some pretty good astronomy and mathematics knowledge to calculate accurately....

I take it with as much regard as I give the rules of life as decreed by bronze age tribesmen.

I'll eat shellfish, cut my hair, and wear clothes made out of 2 or more materials!!!! If the world ended every 26000 years I'm sure we'd have figured that out

National geographic talking about milankovich cycles(3 of them) and how it influences the amount of heat the planet receives, and how those cycles matched that of ice ages in the past....

Not quite extinction level events that wipe out all life on the planet, but major climactic changes with profound impacts on species depending on where they live....Funny that they match the cycle on the mayan and chinese calendars.

Tell that to the wooly mammoth....P

Would be something to watch all of canada and most of the USA and europe and russia turn into just one big block of ice......Could you imagine the death toll if it happened over a relatively short period of time?

this
and second note , most archeologist are not even sure they have the right translation , so little was left it is hard to exactly know what mayan hieroglyphs mean

another fact you really think the mayan so sophiticated ?? they hadn't even invented the whee yetl, they sacrificed humans in the thousands because of those stars who they thought were gods and couldn't cope with localdroughts, yeah really sophisticated
third earth isn't the center of the universe nor is our sun nor is our galaxy ,

all this 2012 end of the world just another hype so booksales can go up

I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... Voltaire
