Yeah, I'm sorry, you're pulling a Neo Geo at this point.

You mean you took a video where someone said that HL3 was going to be released on wiiU and gabe said that it could produce amazing graphics seriously for more than one second ?

PS who can remember the price the PS3 launched at? Google tells me $599. If we assume inflation at 4% for 6 years since, that equates to $750 today.
That makes no sense.
What background brings you to the idea that inflation justifies
a price increase regarding computer related stuff ?

There's not one single computer, or peripheral,
that got more expensive in the last 6 years.

Am i missing something here ? I really don't understand how you can
apply inflation to this. It just makes no sense to me.
Can you explain ?

PS3 is a console whose generation is ending, to be replaced by the PS4. Dust is still very new, and if it wants any hope of success, it'd have to be ported to the PS4. The PS4 having such a stupidly high launch price (in combination with the probability that Planetside 2 will also be on PS4) is Bad News Bears for Dust. If it's true, of course.

This might be true if you assume all PS3 owners are dumb enough to throw away their PS3s and buy PS4s to run a PS4 port of a PS3 quality game that already exists on their PS3.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

I'm not entirely sure that video is legit. Half-life 3 for the Wii U? Nobody can be that stupid, surely?

It's possible, I guess. Dust really does have awful timing, though, due to it largely being a turd created by the CCP of old that the CCP of new (i.e. post Summer of Rage) is desperately trying to polish into something that they can use.

You sound awfully angry about something. Have you even played the game? It seems most people who pan DUST as much as you do haven't even tried it and they're just mad that it's not a PC game.

I hear dust is bad because it tastes all grapey and sour

But we're not talking about a single computer or peripheral, now are we? We're talking about two completely different computers, released at completely different times, with a pricing determined by market segment.

Sony wanted the PS3 to be the premium console, so they charged a premium price.
Sony wants the PS4 to be the premium console, so they're going to charge a premium price.
The only thing that has changes is what Sony think they will have to include in order for the customers to buy the noise about it being a premium product.

You see this everywhere. A top-spec computer costs the same now as it did 10 years ago relative to the average income of computer enthusiasts. Same goes for TVs or cars or refrigerators or phones or whathaveyou. Yes, tech becomes cheaper, but the price points of the end product remain pretty much the same because manufacturers simply use that cheaper tech to cram more features into whatever it is they're selling.

Actually, the prices of electronics — as with most things — remain pretty constant if you look at relative performance in the marketspace. The only thing that gets cheaper is the stuff that doesn't add anything new over time.

Except of course $800 base for a gaming console is still a ridiculous price.
The video is likely a late April Fools, especially considering the announcer says "at the reasonable price of $799 for the base model...", the article says the price is "extremely cheap", and no other gaming news source has verified anything in this article or video.

Sure, but that's a slightly different topic than why stuff costs what they cost and what relation that has to things like inflation and advances in manufacturing.

PS4 has issues, most notably that I won't be able to purchase used games.

I think I'd rather start crack instead. It's cheaper than buying new video games, and I'll still be high long after other people have finished the 15 minutes that games last these days.

Sony hasnt confirmed a price yet. Anything you read till they officially announce the priced, will be nothing more than speculation and rumor.

Can't believe so many people fell for this.

Half LIfe 3 only on Wii-U...... Lol
Xbox 720 specs.... Microsoft doesn't even comment on how the controller looks
PS4 Price... Sony hasn't even shown the console itself, let alone a price

Aside from perhaps RAM and its scarcity. Expensive early when very new, dropping in price and then rising much later before its an antique, but by no means ancient. Particularly older laptops that may use manufacturer specific ram. Or motherboards that will only accept very specific brands / qualities of ECC ram.
