Oh jeez. If you want to live in a C5, choose anything but a black hole. I'd recommend a C5 > C5 if you want to have some capital PvP fun, but if you want k-space accessibility, a C2 or C3 static is your best bet. C5 > C2 and C5 > C3 holes have a very low mass limit -- 1 bil -- so there's no distinct advantage there of one or the other. I think you're statistically more likely to find a wormhole to hisec in a C2 than in a C3, but the C3 will give you better PvE in your static. You can blitz C3 sites with battlecruisers, HACs, or T3s with a bit of logi support and make good isk on sheer number of sites done per hour, and they're easy enough that you can do them solo or with a few people if it's too quiet for C5 PvE.

If you're not interested in capital PvP/PvE, there isn't much reason to live in a C5 or C6 unless you want a better chance at finding the best grav and ladar sites. A C4 > C3 or C4 > C2 will give you a little solitude in your home system but the same connection to k-space and, in the case of a C2 static, all other walks of space. If you don't mind a higher degree of daytrippers and other people wandering through and a harder time finding a good system to live in, C3s and C2s are popular as home systems as well, and it lets you choose the class of space you want your static to be. Try to find a system with a planet spread that lets you do the PI to make every component of your fuel blocks except for ice products if you weren't doing that last time.

Red Frog will be your friend with the logistics of getting your loot to Jita. It will definitely pay itself off. If you do move your own loot with a freighter, bring a corpmate in an Ashimmu or Vigilant with multiple webs fitted to get you into warp faster because that freighter will be worth a lot. Blue loot and expensive Sleeper salvage is small, so a blockade runner is a good idea if you're just transporting that, and sell the blue loot at the first station that will take it. If you do a lot of mining and can afford to import a Rorqual to compress your ore, do so, but never let it out of the POS shields.

Don't be afraid to buy things in Amarr, either -- a lot of the time Amarr will be closer to you due to the sheer number of systems close to it, and the price increase will be negligible for a lot of things. If you're buying a ship from scratch, Jita is still your best bet, and after a while twenty jumps to Jita will feel "close".

good tips.
back then, we couldnt use freighters. they wouldnt dock up to anything.
we used the orca or t2 haulers (impel or mast).

i liked the c5 due to the grav sites. we found an ancient one once and it spawned merc so large, it took 15 impel loads to get it all using containers (i think it was 52km3 max at the time?)

now that freighters can go in, i would love to go back. i would love to flood the market with compressed arknor that fills my amarr freightor.

the sleepers were very tough in the c5 with only 3-5 peeps. we would warp in at 100 to draw out the firgs and cruisers. then have someone warp to them at 100 and the first would leave, so now the frigs were 150+ away from the bs and the cruisers were at 100k or so. then we had a vaggy or inty warp to 0 and burn towards the bs and we warped to 0 and orbited the bs until we took out the smaller craft. THEN we could take out the bs. it was tough, but this was in 08ish, so its been a while.

i am building a rorqual soon so i will be able to come play. but things r pretty good here now.

i debate wh space daily tho...
