What would happen if the Development team for WOW (World of Warcraft) took over EVE Development??

1. Halloween and Christmas would be celebrated in game each year by having each station in empire space hang decorations.

2. Players would be able to decorate in there favorite Christmas or Halloween outfits.

3. Each player would have a cute pet flying behind there ship.

4. Can tipping would be an offence punishable by account suspension.

5. Care bear servers would be set up allowing players to explore the universe of EVE without ever having to worry about being targeted by another player EVER!!!

6. If your ship gets destroyed you appear at the nearest station in a ghost pod that cant be targeted or seen, fly to your ship and your ship re-spawns with only minor damage to the hull.

7. New players get shield, hull and armor restored to full every 5 seconds for the first 3 months to ensure they don't die to easily.

8. Players invited to EVE by another player start off with 300,000,000 skill points and 2 billion isk.

9. Probe scanning only requires the necessary skills and probes to be launched, as soon as you click analyze all cosmic signature in the system appear at 100% regardless of probe placement and scan radius.

10. WE ALL GET TO BE PANDA BEARS!!!!!!!!!

Subscription numbers the month following the takeover would be down 50-80%.

Then EA buys the EVE rights and CCP gets dissolved.

Five years late you will get a really bloomy EVE shooter from EA.

It would be immediately cancelled for requiring a modicum of competence to keep running and because “not catering to the lowest common denominator” is a mortal sin in Activisionland.

rumors have it that when wow released it was a cutthroat pvp game where carebears were the backseat... scary huh? Shocked

I'd play it. EVE made me tough.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

When it was first released it was not the game it is today. It has really gone down hill over the years.

I bet they would do a good job. Blizzard seems to have a great concept for group roles and making each player an important part of the group. I bet they would come up with some interesting ideas to de-emphasize the blob.

Re the overall direction and thematic choices; I think those are decided on before development really starts. Someone has an idea that will capture a large market share and they sell it to investors then development tries to create that vision. The WoW dev's have been very successful in building a fun, creative world that really appeals to a broad segment of the market . This was their goal and in it they have been successful.

What would they come up with if asked to design a dark, gritty, SF sandbox MMO that relied on a small niche audience? IDK, but I bet it actually wouldn't have panda bears as a playable race.

I can get behind 1, 2, and 3.

The rest is just silly.

Pretty much. The OP is trying to ride "Hate/Bash WoW" train, however he is trying too hard and failing. That train's gone long ago.

For real. The things people find the time to literally waste and bother to do is just astonishing.

All I know is that my office is mocking that new Starcraft game as being easy-mode taken to Easytown.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

I agree. For instance, things like decorating for Christmas and Halloween in a video game.

indeed, i remember when you had to actually be good at the game, to earn a spot in a raid, to kill a boss to get a *chance* on any kind of reward.

unlike now where you can turn up, not even participate, and get guaranteed rewards.
