I've been playing eve now for a few months and I have I have to say that I am loving the game. Your given so much freedom to do what you want even if that means getting blown out of the sky or loosing millions to billions in dodgy deals and scams.
I feel this level of freedom adds so much realism to the game, and I love it for that.

I can feel my self becoming a bit of a fanboy but to be honest I don't really care, I mean how can one not when you look at the game with an open mind and an open imagination.

At the moment I'm running lvl one mission trying to build some isk and sec status n all that, while waiting for skills to finish so I can try and tackle some lvl two's, which I'm looking forward too.

The game looks great and plays well but I can also understand how some new players coming in might get lost in how open this game is, or find it boring, and in that I mean when you finish the tutorials and are set free you have a massive amount of choices to make most your not even aware of as a new player, and that leads to the joy of discovery, but as you fly around and learn alot more about the universe it can feel like everything is always out of reach.

Now I don't mind keeping my self occupied with other things and learning new routes I could take with my toon, but I feel in the early parts of the game experience could be fleshed out a bit more, I'm not going to suggest how to do this cause to be honest I have no idea, I just feel like the new player experience is missing something.

Any how other aspect of the game are great fun, even the ingame community are great, have a problem just ask and people are almost always will to help you out with what ever information you need, ( I just wont be asking about overview setting again, that got confusing fastShocked )

So basicly am loving the game experience so far and looking for to see how my character fairs in the furture.

My remote control is really dusty, btw.

Good luck with EVE.

Considering there are experienced vets who even have difficulties getting the overview to work out right, you're in pretty good company on that part.

Check out http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Overview_Guide for a good guide, or just check Google for overview packs ("eve online overview pack") and that will probably help you out quite a bit.

Good luck, have fun, and fly safe o7

This is not freedom what you list here, it is criminality. And you might be missing the punishment and the drama that comes with it.

Might I suggest you join EvE university or Red vs Blue alliance

Both of these will help you enter the game in a manner that will allow you a better experience of the game to start with allowing you to chose your future more wisely

EvE University for more generalized knowledge covering all parts of the game

and Red vs Blue if you seem to be leaning more towards shooting other players.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

Stuff.

Welcome aboard. Glad you like it. People have been complaining about the new player experience for years. It has gotten significantly better recently, but as you say.. it could still use a lot of work.

You've been playing the game for a few months but your still only running level 1 missions?

I was years in getting to more than level 1 missions. Too much other stuff to do.

Props to the OP play your way. Have fun, blow stuff up.

Congrats on being able to continue forward, despite the utter lack of NPE and it's ability to keep most new players interested.

Each game has a culture -- and their lingo -- including EvE.

I'm more or less a newer player, but I certainly don't use the lingo, and "new player experience" is a buzzword here.

Are you implying that the venerable author of this thread is being less than honest in his self-description as 'new player" to advance some personal agenda??

Nerfing High-sec is never the answer. It is the question. The answer is 'YES'.

I get what your saying, but the freedom is being able to do it in game with out a ban hammer coming down on you for it. I haven't actually taken part in the setting up of any such scam but have fallen prey to them, still a learning experience:)

"You've been playing the game for a few months but your still only running level 1 missions?"

Yes I still do lvl one missions, isn't the first rule everyone tells you is don't fly what you can't afford to lose, I wasted a lot of isk in these last few months just trying things out, and buying stuff I didn't need or couldn't use ect, ect, so have to try and build some bank before for I start fitting a ship more suited to lvl two's, I have tried them and died quickly, so will hold off till the cost of a cruiser plus fittings doesn't hurt to much if I lose it:)

I still get some rage moments but thats me in most game I play, I do something stupid get kill or what not, but just walk away have a smoke and some tea and back at it.

any how thanks everyone for the kinda words, I shall continue this adventure and with a bit of luck I can hold off the bitter vet rage quite till at least a year:)

Robertis Olacar, welcome to Eve and gratz for the good attitude. Definitely keep that outlook and you'll do fine.

As for mission levels and larger class ships, no need to rush that, especially if the skills are not up to par. A lot of new players try to jump into a Battleship and do level 4 missions asap. That usually ends badly and very quick due to lacking core support skills.

You are doing fine from what I read. Know that there is a level 1 storyline mission where you need to rescue some folks from an asteroid belt. Said belt contains among lots of Veldspar one rock of Arkonor. It is nowhere describe in the mission briefing.

You'll find many such little things in EVE that make you smile, but the vast opportunities also make these rare. So do not worry when you keep running level 1s for a while. Just explore as much as you can and have fun.
