Last week at least 1 candidate was told he was qualified then got the rug pulled out from under him after he annouced he was qualified:

I would like to apologize for an error in our mailing system for the CSM8 pre-election. We discovered that our system had resulted in some false positives for our Thursday mail. From here on I will personally be reporting the daily votes of every member running for the CSM8 pre-election. I cannot apologize enough for this error, and hope that you will be understanding as we implement this new election system.

Your current vote count:
Riverini: 138

Once again we cannot apologize enough for this error. I will continue to provide daily updates at 1330 GMT of your vote count.

Specifically I have to ask CCP Dolan what is the false positives in this instanceQuestion
Is it because one can be endorsed past 200 then unendorsed?

Is this not a bigger issue? Makes it look like bias towards existing power blocks?

CCP Fozzies reply to Mynnna

There are some good arguments for this, but I would say the focus should have been reversed to spread and widen the initial field, that should also get more votes, since the promo foot work would be done by a larger field of candidates?

I think CCP shot themselves in the foot a bit with this choice?

We'll be happy to have a CSM that is representative of the voters. And that will be the case no matter what.

Xander Phoena ‏@midi2304 8h @CCP_Fozzie @notrichter
Representative of the voters or representative of the player base? Because those aren't the same thing.

CCP Fozzie ‏@CCP_Fozzie 7h @midi2304 @notRichter
True, and something we never forget. However we'll take representative of the voters over nothing at all any day.

IMHO I think CCP is shorting the player base thus giving us a few VERY narrow slate and now the traditional voters (BLOCkS predominately NULL SEC ) not the player base have lots of candidates thanks to the current set up

The focus on the main election is intentional yes, no need to push the non-hardcore to vote twice.

and the non Hard Core to nearly not vote at all Ugh

Same "you're qualified lol jk" thing happened to Sgurd Battersea as well.

The ability to unendorse candidates days after they are declared qualified is ill-conceived and frankly a mistake.

Notably, it is something that just showed and not at all discussed prior to being deployed or people would have been able to tell them ahead of time what an issue this would be.

While the feature may make some sense in giving users a chance to recover from errors, it definitely should have been locked in some short time after the endorsement is cast. 24 hours at most.

Agreed. It's a bad mechanic. All that's really needed is an "Are you sure? This Endorsement cannot be changed" dialogue box.

I can just about see an arguement for allowing people to withdraw an endorsement, but by no means should they be allowed to then endorse a new candidate.

It will be fine according to Two Step, its just me who is having trouble with the new voting system and not a lot of people.

Of Course my big problem is why they would bring in a voting system that will hand the CSM to NULL with out barely a whimper from the rest of the game excluding Wormholes ofc.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

Personally I feel that Market and Industry is highly under represented. The only real exception imho is Mynnna.

This also relates to the more casual players and new player base.

The lack of non eve client representation is also an issue imho.

What about pure metagame, DUST, and related topics? All the candidates talk a lot about CSM communications, but not a lot is said about how CCP should improve their focus on these aspects.

A personal WTF is why cant the client automatically log into evegate and eve-o forums? And why dont we have direct links from character info to the IGB Evegate entry? How about a few added features to make mini-blogging possible on evegate? With comment function that players and corps can moderate themselves?

Especially in times like election and tournaments this might be really helpful and a tool that might improve some of the playerbases activity in metagame. A sort of ccp introduction to metagame.

Also shift or control to open links in out of client browse would be really helpfull.

Ok I got a bit sidetracked there, but my point was representation on out of client activity will be VITAL for ccps future developments as DUST and potentially more projects integrate into the EVE brand.

ALSO CCP!! Y U NO Pen and Paper RPG yet?

I agree with your suggested alternatives. Although I'd have to add allowing the withdrawl of endorsement after the candidate is qualified is problematic and game-able.

Way off topic:

I would like a trinity of shop concepts.

EVE Mineral colored/designed Dice D4 TRT, D6 PYR, D8 MEX etc..

Then EVE themed "Tarot" / standard playing cards, with bonus cards to fit a Tarot.

Then a Pen and Paper based on a variation of the original Deadlands mechanics with cards, Dice and chips.

As a special themed EVE poker chip set It would be based somewhat on Nexus Chips or Aurum Tokens.

Ok back on topic Big smile

I personally believe in EVE case its the STUPID ECONOMY! Still too many small flaws in it, that could use a bit of focus.

Also where is the candidate runing on "Stock Exchange" and Better market price datamining? Evil
