Null sec Carrier Spawns

Searched for this but didn't find much. Has there been a nerf on carrier/hauler spawns. Some folk in my alliance (on main) seem to think there is. I rat quite a bit in -1 and -.9 systems and haven't seen any for the last month or 2. Prior to that I found them. So was something changed that I'm not aware of or am I just supremely unlucky?

A simple yes they were nerfed, or no they were not would of sufficed. I understand probability quite well. since other people in alliance chat told me there was a nerf I came here to confirm that. As usual I will leave these forums with less knowledge than when I posted. thanks for the help.

A while ago with the release of retribution (i think it was retribution, could've been earlier) they removed the extra hauler/faction spawns after downtime. So that may have an impact on the amount of spawns you get if you and your corpmates were used to ratting in belts that were not touched after the downtime of the server.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if that pertains to me or not as I usually rat well after downtime. Even going through the belts and killing everything 4 or 5 times does not trigger a spawn. Used to be, not everyday mind, that I would expect something to spawn if I did this over a period of 3 or four days. Been a couple of months and nothing spawns.

not you, and not random.

all exploration sites have been nerfed with winter expansion, i keep track of them since 1 year+, i still run the same number of site / month( average of 4/day) in the very same area (same lowsec constellation), loot and income reduced by 50/60% since patch.

@OP if CCP made an unannounced change to the spawn probability, we would never know. As far as anyone is concerned, assuming CCP has made such an unannounced change is at best pointless speculation, and at worst stupid tinfoil hat RNG-is-out-to-get-me silliness. Since no one recalls CCP announcing a nerf, don't expect anything beyond "situation normal; working as intended" as your response.

I don't recall exactly, but I do remember reading something about changes to the spawn mechanics. It reduced the chances of not only carrier/hauler spawns but faction and officer spawns as well. It had something to do with spawns not being reset at down time. Don't remember the details as it was a while back 5-6 months ago I think.

Same thing happened to me. I used to make more money in belts than i did in sites. I used to get 1-2 faction spawns a day and 1 hauler every 2-3 days. I was wondering why I hadn't seen one in ages.

We had been renting in nullsec and noticed that both officers and carrier spawns dropped by about 75% with the winter expansion. This change (along with some corp members unsubscribing) took us from "able to make month's rent in less than 1 week" to "takes more than 3 weeks to make rent".

And yes, I understand statistics - I'm studying for actuarial exams.

So you know in the actuarial world the pool of data you would use is how big?

The problem with all of these threads is you have one person (or even a 0.0 renting corp of 37 members), coupled with, "well my friend heard from this guy..." anecdotal observations trying to drive the argument that something actually changed.

If any of you understood statistics then you wouldn't be deriding any attempt to gather data offhand like this, because you would understand that a proper sample size is all you really need to determine if there was a high likelihood of the chance of a spawn changing.

Further, this thread can accomplish something even quicker-by gaining attention from a dev for an official comment.

So that's 2 methods of accomplishing something.

edit: Anyway, instead of throwing poo at each other, why don't you just give actual feedback that isn't "RNG is RNG", and either say you've seen no change or work together to see if there was one.
