We're not within blast range. Hekla goes off on a regular interval, every ~10 years, and Reykjavik is a safe distance away. Last eruption was in 2000, so we are over-due. Katla is the less nice volcano here.

The only concern is if a dust cloud moves through the city, as it can affect respiratory function. But we've had a few dust clouds pass through Reykjavik over the last few weeks from another eruption from a year or two ago that got kicked up and carried through Reykjavik.

Living on a volcanic rock, this is something everybody is prepared for. So I wouldn't be worried Smile

Is CCP in blast radius of Hekla Volcano?

Apparently it's awake and more dangerous than ever.

It's named Gates of Hell by locals as far as I know.

Anyone that can confirm that? or share more information about that?

Well, this is going to be one hell of a party next month!!!

That would be rather unfortunate since fanfest people would be stuck in the country due to no flying through ash clouds.

Ironic maybe.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

They are actually based inside the mountain, deep with in the magma pools. So no need to worry.

If they are in the volcano, they must have Trained overheating to at least 3? Therefore Iceland is unbalanced and needs nerfing. i hear CCP is good at that....

The biggest risk to CCP would be an eruption just before FanFest shutting down all the airlines for a week or more.

Take a look.

Point A is Hekla. Point B is CCP.

I think we're all good, although it might get a bit dusty. Also, volcanoes are awesome :3

That volcano scares the Americans away, and that's why Iceland's banksters are in jail and not running the place.

In Washington we "had' Mt. St. Helens. I was living on the East coast when that sucker blew, and the dust reached all the way to the opposite coast.

Mt. Rainer and Mt. Baker are also dormant volcanoes. Kablooey possible. There'll be empty Latte cups everywhere. Rumor has it that the Space Needle would survive.

I have it on a good source the real reason is that the volcanoe is overdue is because every year CCP kidnapps a Goon at fanfest & throws the virgin into the volcano satisfying the Volcano Gods Lol if CCP ever accidentally kidnapps a Goon that isn't a virgen & throws him in then the volcano will erupt again Shocked

Needless to say I doubt there will ever be an eruption again becuase the supply of Goonie blobing virgens is endless Blink

Pompeii?

Oh yeah, they knew EXACTLY what a volcano is when they built a city at the base of one...

I was creating thread about Hekla and then realized I must search it first and I found this thread. It seems that old Hekla is restless and about to vomit some lava out. I first searched Hekla thread from out of pod experience but this seems to be in general discussion.

Hekla in news:
http://www.ctvnews.ca/world/iceland-earthquakes-prompt-warning-near-hekla-volcano-1.1211663

Wikipedia has lots of stuff about old Hekla.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hekla

The last time there was large volcano eruption in Iceland air traffic was in serious trouble. If it erupts in FF people may get longer FF they ever dreamed of. There may be people in FF many months. Big smile
