...which means guess what? That's right: situation unchanged. Oh, wait, no, not unchanged - it's actually a minor Federal victory.

News Article

To quote:

Quote:
On the ground, the situation remains largely unchanged, although fighting has reduced to sporadic contacts between Gallente and Caldari forces as both sides appear to be focusing on assessing their losses.

The article also has the Federation in control of the crash site. So, basically, this is being operated exactly in the same manner as almost every other area we can "fight" the other side: if the State players win, at best, nothing happens, or the Gallente get a small victory. If the Gallente win, they get the whole pie. With the DUST battle for CP, State players managed to get about 500 wins more than their opponents, a statistically unlikely variance. And yet, the situation on the ground is a Federal victory, with Federal troops remaining on the ground with a solid beach head and control of the crash site. I hope that no one is surprised at this by this point.

It should be clear to all Caldari supporters at this point that participating in CCP's live events is basically a way of RPing a punching bag for the Devs. Whatever happens, we lose. The best option is not to play.

Linkified for your viewing pleasure.

And disappointing, some of us Caldari want to live in peace with our homeworld, not be oppressed by Imperialistic Gallente.

But couldn't the Gallente argue that this is turning the tide, where the Caldari have whipped their arse in the Factional Warfare and had a enclave in Lumiere.

Did the Galente actually win the 'battle site' in DUST? What district did the Titan crash in and is there anyway to figure that out? along with who won that district? Also, I must admit that I am a bit disappointed that all they managed to muster was half a paragraph at the end of the news article in regards to the State victory in the DUST event. I expected the end of an event of that magnitude to be a bit more...well..just more.

I get the impression that the State's hold on Caldari Prime is contingent on the Gallente deciding that bombing the State's positions from orbit isn't worth the civilian and environmental cost... especially when you consider that the population of Caldari Prime is a mixture of racial groups, and has been since before the first Gallente - Caldari War.

I expect fighting will continue there for some time... be it only small scale insurgency type actions or large scale fleet engagements.

First part of the article - Federal Marines at the crash site.

Anyway, the predetermined storyline is that the Federation wins. Since they didn't, as far as the players on the ground are concerned, they can't really make a big deal out of it, because then the players of both games would really start whining about how they were promised an effect on the universe and got scripted results instead.

Because this IS a Federal victory on the ground. The State started out with the whole planet at the beginning of the event, and at the end, they barely hold a majority of districts, and shakily at that. Which means that the scenario as currently portrayed is a minor to major Gallente win. Which means that all the fighting Caldari-loyalist Dusties did was for nothing - the story was written before hand, and we were all lied to when we were told we could change the course of events. Just like in the space battle, where the devs made sure the Gallente had more dreads than the Caldari had total capitals, and made sure to stick the Caldari at optimal range on those dreads.

stop being cynical!

Although I do understand you're overall argument, but the only way the Caldari would have maintain total control of Caldari Prime was by winning every single battle. Also even if they did, there is still a large Gallente population on Caldari Prime which harbors many insurgents. Finally, the moment the Caldari fleet was destroyed in space by the Gallente Fleet threw away all chance of Caldari keeping full control of the planet. Basically with the Gallentee controlling the space around Caldari Prime , this means the Gallente can launch many invasions from space and eventually be able to establish a beach head down on the planet. That is not even accounting for orbital support which they can do at leisure, since they have space superiority.

You're comment about the crash site being control by the Gallente is valid though.

Aye, I know, I was asking however if there was an actual 'battle site' to fight over the Titans remains and if control of that area was won by the Federation 'in game' rather than just awarded to it out of game.

Yeah, they're just gonna keep running battles until the Gallente win. It's kinda predictable: if they want something a certain way, they either make it impossible for one side to win (like the CP space battle), or just keep running it until it turns out that way.

The Caldari won the ground war and the astute will probably notice what the result of this is in the upcoming week.

If you do actually do this, and not have it turn against the Caldari (as every other player driven Caldari success has seemed to do), we may just have to cast you a commemorative statue or something. Would you prefer bronze, or iron? Smile

Actually, it's the Caldari. Let's make it steel.
