The weird side of W-space...(Politics, conspiracies and generally weirdness)

Have you ever logged on to do scanning, and keep system security tight, only to find not a single signature, bar your static WH, is present? This is without anyone in corp having logged on in a few days to de-spawn sigs. To be honest I was a little freaked out because;

A) Either Eve is being nice to us, and Eve is never nice without someone preparing to bend you over and shaft you royally.
B) Someone has to come in and clean out our system of it's signatures, which involves a level of anally retentive scanning which beggers belief. We're only a C4 corp, which means we picked the hole on the basis that C5s are more tempting and C3s easier to do.
C) I need to re-iterate that someone willing came in and de-spawned our signatures for us...of their own free will.
D) We haven't appeased the great WH god, Bob, in a while, which kind of ties into A, part 2.

But what's that floating somewhere in a random part of our system? A can advertising for Nathan Jameson running for CSM8. I'm now sat here wondering if someone would go to all that trouble to curry favour with a small corp like mine, in order to secure our votes?

Because to be honest I could live with that.

Still...no where near as petty as leaving a "Babylon 5 rules" can in a system full of Trek related POS names...*ahem*

Well, that all depends. Which answer would make you happier? Blink

The one that involved t'truth, and not the Eve version of it! I've seen Jita local often enough to know the truth is a rather fluid commodity. ;)

It's entirely possible the scout that dropped the can also activated all the sites in your wormhole. Or any passerby, really.

It's also possible there's a covops scanner in your system, activating sites either to lower your isk income or in preparation for a future invasion.

Those are the two most probable situations that come to mind.

Possibly about the covops, but with the number of empty C4s it becomes an issue of why pick one that's occupied? I suppose there's the griefing, but we make most of our ISK out of running anomalies, not doing the sig sites.

Interesting post and nothing against Nathan Jameson....but I honestly consider this thread spam and inappropriate for this forum venue. I'm sure it will be locked soon too lol

Or it could be like some people in my corp like to do, and simply triggered the sites so they popped up somewhere else in the constellation. "recycling", if you will. If we ever come across a hole with a ton of sigs, even if it's occupied, we'll trigger all of them just so they despawn and respawn somewhere else. As for the can, well, whatever floats your boat.

Except I'm actually managing to pick people for reasons why this has happened? Yeah, I know, it's almost like Eve is an incredibly complex game with people pulling off things you didn't know could be done. This wasn't done as a political advert, but purely on the chance it might have gone down that way. Now people are talking, I'm discovering other reasons for this to happen.

Well you're more than welcome to despawn the sigs. A clean system makes keeping an eye open for K162s a hell of a lot easier. I've heard these technique being used by the C5 alliances and corps, but it didn't even cross my mind that people would bother with it in a C4, due to the C4s...well...'meh' ness when it comes to resources in comparison to the higher up holes. I've lived in W-space for two years now, and this is the first instance I've come across of this happening in our system.

You forgot option E :
No site spawned because no one else in your c4-constellation ran a site or despawned a site.
Wich could be quite possible since no one bothers to run c4-sites... .

No local in null sec would fix everything!

Did you guys recently add another POS? I've heard that this can cause sites not to spawn for a few days. In my experience this seems to hold true.

I never seen these people in my life. I don't recognize them Your Honor

I remember your hole. We activated some (most) of your sites couse you didnt want to go out and play. Time did the rest.

What I didnt understood is why would you want a clear system so you can recognize incomings k162.

Bob Artis, you will be missed.

I'm more thinking of the great corp book mark up date that has to happen after down time each evening. You know, that point where you have to go through the sigs to make sure no one's put a K162 into system before down time happens?

To be honest we've only just moved back in and set back up after some personal down time amongst corp memebers...so...erm...sorry?

I think they have forgotten the most important point here....

You have displeased Bob with you lack of sacrifices and wayward ways.

As His prophet I demand you immediately sacrifice 100 shuttles at the sun to repent and satisify his eternal hunger for ship wrecks.

Well... I think its quite normal if to raid a wormhole that has a large corporation in it to activate all the sites you couldt finish in time. If you raid a wh that has no active or large enoug corp inside you leave the sites, as they will stay there, noone will do them anyway and noone will profit from them. If the corporation in the wormhole is large enough you activate them and they will spawn hopefully in a empty sistem where noone will be to clear them and noone profits :) Thats how you by a minor margin would incrise the prices of your own goods, with inhibiting the activity of other corps. And its realy easy to just press warp to and cancel for every site cos you scanned them down anyway. Someone did this to you, and all sites despawned then at the same time. But it wasnt me, im semiactive :D

As the Oracle of Bob, he had this to say, "You are an insufferable carebear. I hereby deny you the luxury of My Holy Sites. Also, Babylon 5 rules."

So. You have to remedy this perilous situation you are in. Bob is not happy. The standard appeasement is to fill a Sacred Rifter full of ammo, Quafe, and Exotic Dancers. You must then scan out your chain until you run into a PvP Wormhole corp. Apologize profusely for your wretched carebearing, and agree to fight anyone and everyone willing to meet you 100 clicks from the sun. You must also offer up your pod as a willing sacrifice.

Bob may be inclined to extend you leniency from His Wrath once this is done.

Also you must post your heroic loss mail in this thread.

If i chain into a c4 with some crappy effect, i warp to every single anomaly. Especially if said wh has a c4/c4 static due to constellation spawning/grouping.
