Did CCP just prove they are a failure at the single shard universe?

Why would you hold a live event, then prevent most people from being involved?

If you really can't provide the level of equipment needed to actually allow players to play the game, then you have failed at this idea...

Of course a sharded universe in EvE would probably be even a bigger failure, so maybe you should invest in equipment that can actually provide the service you claim to?

The concord troll was the best troll.

Single shard doesn't mean single system. Are so many people really just figuring out how this game works? The tears of uninformed entitlement are reaching flood levels today.

What hi said if jita is going lagy on 2000k ppl not doing much 1000 ppl shooting will make a mess having ccp letting in ~1600 ppl shooting + navy thing going on + console game kicking hamsters in the nuttsack as well......well that was overkill

What the hell are ppl expecting!!

But CCP made mistake lifting cap to ~1600.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Actually the early event that involved bits of a jove pod pilot was the best event.

I would not think they are a total fail.

While I have some complaints on the matter, I think they simply underestimated the importance of storyline-related live events to the player base.

Yeah, CCP failed to realize that we eat this stuff up. Everybody who is not into this has to realize, if you like reading science fiction, and the game you play is based on that genre and has books based on it, and the game has events in it that are going to be reflected on in those books, it's like actually being IN the book.

Every time the topic comes up, I try to remind people that this could be the future of books. Not just books that you read and collect, but stories that you participate in while the series progresses.

If there was ever a marketer or publisher brainstorming over how to sell books, and an MMO, and from an education perspective, how to encourage young people to read more, THIS would be it. This would be the perfect storm of accomplishing those goals.

So not all of Eve Online is bored gankers mindlessly killing everything that moves, and bored miners sucking rocks till they are bored out of the game.

Hopefully CCP would realize what they have here, and the potential for it. It might change the way books and games are sold.

This isn't the first time CCP has had a live event. Given that Jita can accommodate quite a few more players, live events always draw interest, it was utter fail that CCP capped the system at 1025 when I was in it for an hour.

I have been avoiding this whole thing in it's entirety by hunkering down with a bag of chips and a game of "Don't starve" but let me see if I get this straight.

They invited the whole community to a massive pvp event and then the whole thing toppled because too many people showed up. Despite them hosting the event and being ready for a player spike way in advance?

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

No, not really.

There was a system cap of 1600 people, so there was a considerable group at the entrance gates waiting their turn. Once people started dying many of those people waiting got in... while many that died went back in the que to wait their turn.

Also, many people don't really understand what 13% Tidi means, and think that they were lagging out when their computer didn't respond to their commands immediately. Smile

Standing in line to pew? What kind of blasphemy is that?

Only in high sec....

Very easy solution. Next time hold the event 1 jump into null sec, that will eliminate 95% of high sec participation in a snap, thus no lag.
